THE REIGN OF STARSCREAM, PART ONE
STARSCREAM: (narration) My fellow Decepticons, I bring tragic news: Megatron is dead. I know this is hard to bear, especially considering that it's only a few months since our glorious leader's return... But tragedies happen. And so do miracles. Since it is only natural for the second-in-command to take charge, I, Air Commander Starscream, humbly declare myself leader of the Decepticons. Come to the fortress in Kaon to witness the coronation, and the marking of a new day... one which will ensure our victory!
(Iacon...)
IRONHIDE: You doin' all right, Prime?
OPTIMUS PRIME: I'm fine, Ironhide.
IRONHIDE: Are you upset that he's gone? Megatron, I mean.
OPTIMUS PRIME: No. I just wish Archforce would've come back in his place.
IRONHIDE: What did he say to you when you visited him yesterday?
OPTIMUS PRIME: He told me what it was like when he changed--when he became Megatron. He made me think... on how I changed.
IRONHIDE: You mean on how you went from a librarian to a leader?
OPTIMUS PRIME: In a way, yes. But I was actually thinking about a prophecy I read, about there being seven Primes. And Sentinel being the seventh.
IRONHIDE: Ya' know, I've always wondered why the council said you were a Prime. Why is that?
OPTIMUS PRIME: I... Do you remember that day when we ended up underground?
IRONHIDE: Vaguely.
OPTIMUS PRIME: Down there, something called Vector Sigma gave me the powers of the Matrix.
IRONHIDE: The Matrix? But I thought Nova Prime--!
OPTIMUS PRIME: So did I. But according to my vision, we were wrong. Either Nova Prime didn't take the Matrix, or if he did, maybe... Wait...
IRONHIDE: Hey! Where're you goin'?
OPTIMUS PRIME: I have to speak with a certain someone.
(Kaon Fortress...)
STARSCREAM: My fellow Decepticons, we are gathered today to mourn the passing of Lord Megatron. Megatron was the one who inspired us. It was he who took us gladiators and reformed us into the Decepticons. Thus his demise is a truly tragic event. But fear not, my friends... our glorious leader is not without an heir. It was Megatron who appointed me Air Commander and, after Shockwave's disappearance, his second-in-command. Thus, it is only logical... (He dons his '86 movie coronation gear and crown) That I, Starscream, am made the new leader of the Decepticons!
DECEPTICONS: (in unison) All hail Starscream!
LUGNUT: Traitors...
ASTROTRAIN: So what I first on the agenda, my lord?
STARSCREAM: No idea. Just smile and wave.
(Iacon)
KUP: I said move that piece over there, Hauler!
OPTIMUS PRIME: Kup?
KUP: Yeah, Prime?
OPTIMUS PRIME: I need to speak with you.
KUP: What is it?
OPTIMUS PRIME: Did you ever know Nova Prime?
KUP: Nova Prime? I may be old, but not that old!
OPTIMUS PRIME: But you lived near his time, right? Surely you must know something about him.
KUP: Well... *Sigh* All right. Years ago, I served in Guardian Prime's Elite Guard under Commander Thunder Clash. One day, I heard Guardian mention Nova Prime, his predecessor. According to him, Nova Prime, after defeating the Destrons, announced an expedition to explore the outer regions of space. Five ships of the Expedition left Cybertron, led by Nova and crewed by thousands of Cybertronians. They never returned.
After that, Guardian Prime became leader and created the Autobot faction. No one knows what happened to Nova Prime. He's probably dead.
OPTIMUS PRIME: The problem is, Kup... I don't think he is!
(Kaon...)
LUGNUT: This is unacceptable! We can't allow that idiot Starscream to lead us!
SKYWARP: Not sure if we can do anything about it, Lugnut. I mean, Starscream's followers outnumber us two-to-one! And besires, who else is there that can be a better leader?
LUGNUT: Certainly not any of the warlords. They're all petty tyrants who want Megatron's throne!
SOUNDWAVE: There is one.
LUGNUT: Who?
SOUNDWAVE: Straxus.
SKYWARP: Straxus? But I heard that he and Flatline vanished!
SOUNDWAVE: Not quite. My minion Buzzsaw had accompanied them. Thus, I have all connections with them. Straxus, this is Soundwave.
STRAXUS: Soundwave? Ah yes. I was wondering if you had forgotten our connections. What is--
SOUNDWAVE: Megatron is dead.
STRAXUS: Dead? So I take it that Starscream's in charge then.
SOUNDWAVE: Correct.
STRAXUS: Well then, I suppose it's time to take action.
SOUNDWAVE: Affirmative.
STRAXUS: Good. Nemesis... it's time.
NEMESIS PRIME: Finally. [Note: Nemesis Prime is revealed to be SG Optimus Prime]
(Cybertron... Alpha Trion's base...)
IRONHIDE: Ya' sure there's anything left here?
OPTIMUS PRIME: Positive, Ironhide.
IRONHIDE: What happened to this place, anyway?
OPTIMUS PRIME: A Decepticon raid...
IRONHIDE: What would the 'Cons right from ol' Alpha?
OPTIMUS PRIME: Datatraxes, I suppose. Any data.
IRONHIDE: Did they kill him?
OPTIMUS PRIME: I don't know. No body was ever recovered.
IRONHIDE: You really think we'll find something about Nova Prime?
OPTIMUS PRIME: There has to be something! I mean, Alpha is older than-- Whoa...
IRONHIDE: What?
OPTIMUS PRIME: It's a datatrax by Nova Prime, made right before he left. According to the inscription, it was meant only for Alpha Trion. (beat) Should I play it?
IRONHIDE: Heck yeah.
NOVA PRIME: (recording) Alpha Trion, I know you may find this... unbelievable. But I am taking the Matrix of Leadership with me on the expedition. I know this may seem risky and foolish but hear me out. The Matrix is the source of many ambitions. If I leave it on Cybertron, chaos may erupt. That is why I am splitting the Matrix into five shards, each one to be hidden on the five planets. If there is ever a need to reunite the shards, then here are the planets they're located on. Velocitron... Gaea... Animatron... Gigantion... and final-ZKKK (static cuts him off)
IRONHIDE: ...Scrap.
(Elsewhere, someone who looks a lot like Galvatron sulks while an ominous voice speaks to him)
VOICE: They will come...
GALVATRON: Yes.
VOICE: They will try to find them...
GALVATRON: I know.
VOICE: You will stop them.
GALVATRON: I shall.
(He then raises an army of undead)
