 MEMBERS OF THE JEDI COUNCIL

    The august body of the Jedi High Council has governed the workings of the Jedi Order since its inception, though it has gone through numerous changes and reformations. What follows is a list of its most notable members that will be updated intermittently.

OLD SITH WARS

Varn Xala (from 3995 BBY to 3952 BBY)

A veteran of the Great Sith War, Varn Xala was a founding member of the restored Jedi Council under Grand Master Nomi Sunrider. A long-lived Teevan, Master Xala would sit on the Council for the next forty years, watching as the galaxy became embroiled in the Mandalorian Wars and later the Second Sith War. In 3952 BBY, he was among the Jedi summoned to a conclave on Katarr and subsequently killed by the Sith Lord Darth Nihilus. 

Hazar Bailum (from 3970 BBY to 3958 BBY)

A human male from Telerath, Hazar Bailum was apprenticed to Varn Xala during the Great Sith War and rose to the rank of Jedi Knight a year after the war’s end. In 3970 BBY, he was appointed to the Jedi Council on Coruscant and sat alongside his former master Xala. During this time, he trained the young Jedi Kalon Soral who would go on to join Revan’s Jedi Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars, much to Bailum’s chagrin. Years later, Kalon and his fellow Revanchists returned from the Outer Rim as Sith Lords and attacked the Republic, with Bailum falling to his fellow student’s blade on Mon Gazza during the Second Sith War.

GALACTIC WARS

Nikil Nobil (from 3743 BBY to 3643 BBY)

Born on the planet Thisspias 175 years before the Treaty of Coruscant, the snake-like Nikil Nobil ascended to the Jedi Council in 3743 BBY. In the succeeding decades, Master Nobil watched as many of his former students came to join him on the Council. In 3691 BBY, the position of Grand Master was made vacant and the Council initially nominated Nobil for the position, considering his wisdom and sagacity. However, Nobil declined the title, seeing him to old and unfit to carry the burden, and the role instead went to his former Padawan Zym.

Ten years later, the Sith Empire emerged from hiding and attacked the Republic. By the end of the resulting Great Galactic War, Nobil was one of the six surviving members of the Jedi Council, with the others — including Grand Master Zym — having been killed at the end of the war. Once again, he was offered the vacant position of Grand Master though he once again turned it down. However, he effectively served as the Council’s leader for the next few years until Satele Shan was named Grand Master sometime around 3651 BBY. Nobil was still a member of the Council in the final years of the Cold War as he and his fellow Councilors assessed whether the Grand Master’s apprentice Shigar Konshi was ready for the Jedi Trials. Less than a year later, Master Nobil passed away due to natural causes, becoming one with the Force. 

Ram-Parr (from 3706 BBY to 3678 BBY)

A wise Cathar Jedi Master, Ram-Parr once had a reputation among the Jedi Order for having unorthodox views regarding the Force, something which bled over to his students such as Tasiele Shan. Upon being appointed to the Jedi Council however, Ram-Parr shifted to a more conservative viewpoint and ended up backing the decision to exile Tasiele Shan at the behest of the Galactic Senate.

Ram-Parr would go on to participate in the early stages of the Great Galactic War, meeting his end during the Battle of Agamar in 3678 BBY.

Zym (from 3700 BBY to 3653 BBY)

Zym was trained by Nikil Nobil and joined his master on the Jedi Council around twenty years before the Great Galactic War. In 3691 BBY, he was named Grand Master of the Jedi Order after Master Nobil had turned down the position. A pacifistic Kel Dor, Zym was ill-prepared for the violence that the Sith Empire would bring upon the galaxy and entrusted much of the war effort with more militant Masters such as Belth Allusis and Jun Seros while he served as an adviser to the Supreme Chancellor.

In 3653 BBY, the Great War came to an end with the Sacking of Coruscant, which saw to the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the Republic being forced into a peace treaty. Shortly afterwards, Master Zym was assassinated by the bounty hunter Braden, further weakening the Order after the losses it had suffered from the war.

DESOLATION WAR

Tolada Boorr (from 3542 BBY to 3439 BBY)

A female Ithorian, Tolada Boorr was one of the oldest sitting members of the Jedi Council by the time of the Desolation War, having served as Chief Librarian for a century. Master Boorr was infamous among Jedi learners for her droning voice and tendency to go into great detail about historic events, earning her the nickname “Master Bore” among younglings and Padawans. Regardless of how Jedi youths perceived her, Boorr was a respected and valued member of the Jedi Order, with many on the Council looking to her for wisdom.

When Jedi Master Dion Sazon came to Master Boorr in search of forbidden knowledge, Boorr refused to indulge him, knowing full well the dangers contained within those teachings and unwilling to allow history to repeat itself. She informed the Council of Sazon’s endeavors and the Pau’an was eventually banished from the Jedi Order. Ten years later, he resurfaced as the Sith Lord Darth Desolous and waged war against the Republic.

In 3439 BBY, Master Boorr and the rest of the Jedi Council set up a trap for Darth Desolous at Yaga Minor. Due to her advanced age, Boorr did not believe she would be a capable enough fighter against the Dark Lord of the Sith but nonetheless joined her fellow Jedi in the fight against Desolous. During the ensuing battle, Boorr was one of the first to fall as Desolous unleashed his personal rage against her in a volley of Force lightning. 

Axon Roden (from ??? BBY to 3439 BBY)

A taciturn Vurk, Axon Roden was Grand Master of the Jedi when Battlemaster Dion Sazon left the Order and became the Sith Lord Darth Desolous. After a bloody conflict with the Pau'an's Army of Desolation, Roden and the Jedi Council set up a trap for Desolous on Yaga Minor, where all twelve Masters faced off with the Sith Lord in combat. While Roden and several others were killed, the remaining Masters were able to subdue Desolous and end his reign once and for all.

Berkuss (from 3462 BBY to 3439 BBY)

Born on the planet Gand, Berkuss was taken into the Jedi Order at an early age and trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Axon Roden. Upon attaining the rank of Jedi Knight, Berkuss went on to take on an apprentice of his own in the young Iktotchi Niira Baelar. Sometime after Baelar completed her training, Berkuss was granted a seat on the Jedi High Council in 3462 BBY.

Twenty years later, the exiled Jedi Master Dion Sazon reemerged as the Sith Lord Darth Desolous and unleashed his army on the Galactic Republic. After a destructive war, the Jedi Council was able to spring a trap on Darth Desolous on Yaga Minor, in which Berkuss and his fellow masters did battle with the Dark Lord. While Berkuss was among the many who fell to Desolous' blade, the Sith Lord was eventually brought down by his former apprentice Niira Baelar, bringing an end to the Desolation War.

Hahkann (from 3455 BBY to ??? BBY)

    A member of the Jedi Council as well as a former student of Master Sazon, Hahkann was promoted the rank of Battlemaster following Sazon's expulsion. The powerful Dowutin fought against his former master during the Battle of Yaga Minor and was one of only a handful of surviving Masters after the Sith Lord had been vanquished.

Niira Baelar (from c.3442 BBY to 3419 BBY)

A peaceful Iktotchi seer, Niira Baelar was a member of the Jedi Council during the Desolation War and was forced to strike down Darth Desolous after he had killed Master Roden and many of her compatriots. Despite her misgivings, Baelar was promoted to Grand Master and served in this role for the next twenty years. During this time, she included a simulation of Darth Desolous in the Jedi Trials to warn prospective Knights of the dangers of the dark side.

Kotu Vissola (from 3442 BBY to ??? BBY)

A Pantoran female, Kotu Vissola was the youngest member of the Jedi Council by the time of the Desolation War at the age of 42. She was elevated to the Council at the start of the war due to her role as one of the Jedi Order’s liaisons to the office of the Supreme Chancellor. As Darth Desolous had been a former Jedi, Chancellor Ayra Foon wanted to work closely with the Council, knowing they understood Desolous better than anyone in the Republic. Under Vissola’s guidance, the Republic military was able to effectively counteract Desolous’s forces and eventually bring an end to his crusades at the Battle of Yaga Minor.

This is something that will be updated periodically, since there are... quite a few holocrons.

HOLOCRONS

    Holocrons are devices created by Jedi to contain endless quantities of data and information. By nature, they can only be opened by individuals sensitive to the Force and are protected by a holographic gatekeeper representing the creator of the holocron itself. Below are some of the most notable of the holocrons found in the Jedi Archives.

JEDI HOLOCRONS

The Tedryn Holocron

    This holocron was created well over four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin by Jedi Master Tedryn. The holocron was passed down for several generations, with Masters Odan-Urr and Ood Bnar adding their own records, before ending up in the possession of Master Vodo-Siosk Baas by the time of the Great Sith War. The holocron contained records pertaining not only to the Jedi but to their dark side counterparts, the Sith, as well.

    After the Sith War, the Jedi Council kept the holocron hidden at an undisclosed location to keep it away from the wrong hands. As a result, it was preserved from the horrors that would wrack the galaxy, in particular the fall of the Jedi Temple in 4324 C.R.C. At some point after the New Sith Wars, the Tedryn Holocron was recovered and passed on to Jedi Master Bodo Baas, a distant descendant of Vodo-Siosk.

    In 7958, Bodo Baas was captured by the Empire during the Great Jedi Purge. When he refused to give up the holocron's location, Darth Sidious executed the Krevaaki before finding the holocron in the possession of Jedi Master Ashka Boda. Master Boda was eventually captured and killed as well and the holocron was retrieved from his belongings. Sidious then delved into the holocron to learn the secret of transferring one's consciousness from one body to another, a technique that had been lost to the Sith over five hundred years prior.

    The Tedryn Holocron was kept on the Emperor's secret throne world of Byss when he met his demise in 7982. The ancient Sith Lord Darth Vorath, having waited several decades to make his move, wasted no time in traveling to Byss to recover the holocron from the late Emperor's collection. While there, he came across a cadre of clone bodies which Sidious had planned to transfer his consciousness into. Vorath awakened one of these clones to serve his purposes; however, the clone resisted the Dark Lord's attempts at warping his mind and fled from the chamber. Drawn to the Tedryn Holocron, the rogue clone recovered it from Sidious' library before departing Byss. A year later, the clone -- now calling himself Ethril -- traveled to Tython where he encountered Luke Skywalker. After a quick confrontation with the Jedi Knight, Ethril was struck down and the holocron was eventually recovered from his vessel. 

    When the New Jedi Order was established, the holocron was entrusted with Master Xanus Baran, who brought it with him to Zegris during his search for Morin Tharr. When Baran was recalled to the Jedi Praxeum, he passed it on to his replacement for the mission, Master Aqinos. Around this time, Vorath sent his Shadow Hands Nemesis and Ravage to take back the holocron and determined it to be on Zegris. When confronted by the Sith, Aqinos surrendered the holocron to the pair, who brought it back to Vorath. 

    However, the Dark Lord quickly discovered that the holocron's contents could only be accessed by a Jedi. Thus, he sent his acolyte Starkiller to retrieve Skywalker's apprentice Toah Jarsan and bring him to Sed'tral. After being captured, Jarsan reluctantly activated the holocron and accessed the Prophecy of the Apocalypse, which Vorath believed pertained to him and his goals. After hearing the prophecy, Vorath allowed Jarsan to leave before locking the holocron away in his archive on Sed'tral.

SITH HOLOCRONS

Holocron of King Adas

Created under the guidance of the Rakata, King Adas's holocron was passed on from Sith to Sith for several generations after his demise. By the time of the Great Hyperspace War, the holocron had ended up in the possession of Lord Garu when he perished on Ashas Ree. Six centuries later, the holocron was recovered by the fallen Jedi Freedon Nadd, providing him with the knowledge he sought of the ancient Sith. After conquering Onderon and declaring himself Dark Lord of the Sith, Nadd held onto the holocron until his death, after which it was recovered by his descendant Queen Amanoa, which she used to train her Sith initiates. After the Naddist Uprising, the holocron was recovered by the Jedi and hidden away on the planet Kodai, where it would remain for the next several millennia.

Sometime before 167 BBY, Darth Tenebrous and his master attempted to locate Adas's holocron, which they knew to be located in the Belderone sector. Whether their attempts were successful or not has yet to be documented, though the holocron was still on Kodai when it was uncovered by Professor Murk Lundi and his disciples. Upon hearing of the holocron's discovery, Darth Sidious sent a Sun Guard operative to retrieve it. However, the Guard ultimately failed and the holocron was once more taken into Jedi custody. For reasons unknown, the Jedi Council entrusted the holocron with House Pelagia of the Tapani sector, who held onto it until was stolen by the Mecrosa Order during the Great Jedi Purge.

Forty years later, following the end of the Imperial Sith War, the aspiring Sith Lady Lumiya traveled to Nyssa and acquired the holocron of Adas from the Mecrosa Order. A decade later, the Glorian agent Shadow traveled to Nyssa to retrieve the holocron himself only to discover that it had already been given to Lumiya. What became of the holocron after Lumiya's reign as Dark Lady of the Sith was ended is unknown.

Holocron of Heresies

The holocron of Darth Andeddu, the Holocron of Heresies was believed to have been first discovered by Freedon Nadd some time before his reign as Dark Lord of the Sith. In 980 BBY, it was recovered from Andeddu’s Keep on Prakith by Darth Bane before being stolen by the fallen Jedi Set Harth. By the time of the Clone Wars, it had found its way to Korriban where it was recovered by Darth Tyranus' acolytes. It later founds its way into the possession of Darth Vorath, who would later use it to gain access to Andeddu's Keep.

AUTHOR FOOTNOTES

    -The Tedryn Holocron first appeared in the Dark Empire comic series and received further backstory in Tales of the Jedi and supplementary material. When I wrote its appearance in Destiny, where it was already in Jedi hands by 10 ABY, I had forgotten that it was supposed to still be on Byss in Palpatine's collection. I decided to reconcile this by using the minor character Ethril, a rogue clone of Palpatine, as the catalyst for this deviation.

 CHIEF ARCHIVISTS OF THE JEDI ORDER

The Chief Archivist is the primary Jedi Lore Keeper who oversees the collection of Force-related knowledge and maintains the Archives of the Jedi Temple. The position was created following the fall of the Great Jedi Library on Ossus in order to recollect the information that was lost and to ensure its future safety. While some prospective Jedi may view such as position to be “boring” or mundane, it is nonetheless a valuable position within the ranks of the Order and those who hold it are greatly respected for their duty.

Atris (-3951 BBY)

Atris served as both Chief Librarian and a member of the Jedi Council during the Mandalorian Wars and the Second Sith War that followed. An icy human woman, Atris was a conservative Jedi and a strong advocate for restrictive policies — such as forbidding romantic attachments and limiting the number of apprentices a Master could take at one time — in the hopes of preventing the rise of another Sith Lord. For all of her arrogance however, the Sith eventually did return in the form of Darth Revan and Darth Malak.

Although Revan was eventually redeemed and Malak defeated, the Sith remained a threat to the Republic. Four years after the Second Sith War, Jedi were being hunted down and killed by a mysterious force. In the hopes of drawing out this unseen evil, Atris called for a convocation of Jedi on the planet Katarr and secretly leaked the location of the meeting. It was Atris’ belief that the sheer number of Jedi present at Katarr would be enough to vanquish whatever dark force was hunting the Jedi. Unfortunately, that force turned out to be Darth Nihilus, who proceeded to overwhelm the Jedi and ravage the planet of Katarr, killing all of the Jedi who were present.

As one of the few remaining Jedi survivors, Atris went into hiding on the planet Telos Four, starting a secret Jedi academy and training a group of Echani half-sisters in the hopes of one day rebuilding the Jedi Order. A year after the disaster at Katarr, the Jedi Exile Meetra Surik came to Telos in search of the lost Jedi. Atris, who had once been close friends with Surik before the latter had joined the Revanchists in the Mandalorian Wars, had a bitter reunion with the Exile but eventually agreed to help her in her quest. Conflicted with self-doubt over her past decisions, Atris was manipulated by Kreia — in fact the Sith Lord Darth Traya — into embracing the fact that she had betrayed the Jedi and in turn had been betrayed by herself. Taking on the name “Darth Traya” for herself, Atris later clashed with Surik when the latter returned to Telos but was eventually defeated by the Jedi Exile. Seeing the error of her ways, Atris elected to exile herself from the Jedi Order and remained in the custody of her own sanctum until she could be judged by the reformed Jedi Council, just as Surik had been judged by her many years ago.    

Mical (after 3951 BBY)

Born on a colony world in the Mid Rim, Mical was brought to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine to be trained in the ways of the Force. During his time there, he was tutored by Meetra Surik, whom he greatly admired and hoped would one day take him on as her apprentice. However, by the time Mical was ready to be fully trained, Surik had gone off to fight against the Mandalorians. With no Master available to train him, Mical ended up serving in the Galactic Republic as an intelligence operative.

After the Second Sith War and the Jedi Purge that followed, Mical took it upon himself to preserve the knowledge of the Jedi in the hopes their Order could one day be rebuilt. He eventually crossed paths with his old mentor Meetra Surik and joined her in her mission to defeat the Sith Triumvirate. In the aftermath of the Dark Wars, Mical and the rest of Surik’s companions helped see to the rebuilding of the Jedi Order, even after Surik herself departed to find Revan. In time, Mical became Chief Archivist of the rebuilt Jedi Archives and would eventually take a seat on the new Jedi Council. 

Irma Yorr (fl. 3699-3681 BBY)

Gnost-Dural (fl. 3653 BBY)

A Kel Dor from the planet Dorin, Gnost-Dural was trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Knight Zane Carran. By the time Gnost-Dural was knighted, the Sith Empire had reemerged from hiding and commenced its invasion on the Republic. In the early years of the Great Galactic War, Gnost-Dural led the Republic on the front-lines against the Sith, although he would often petition the Jedi Council to let him return to Coruscant and conduct research on the Sith at the Archives in the hopes of determining who was behind the resurgent Sith Empire and how the Jedi would be able to stop him.

Eventually, the Council heeded his wishes and Gnost-Dural went straight to the work, tracing the Sith’s history from the fall of the Sith Triumvirate all the way to the Hundred Year Darkness. He eventually reached the conclusion that the Sith Emperor behind the invading Sith force was the ancient Dark Lord Naga Sadow, back from the dead, though this theory would later be debunked when further knowledge on the Sith Emperor’s nature was discovered decades later.

Following the Sacking of Coruscant, Gnost-Dural migrated to Tython with the rest of the Jedi Order and was eventually named Chief Librarian and Lore Keeper of the new Jedi Archives, continuing his studies and research. At some point he took on the Falleen woman Kana Terrid as his apprentice, though she would later fall to the dark side while infiltrating the ranks of the Sith Empire and becoming the Sith Lord Darth Karrid. In 3640 BBY, Gnost-Dural was forced to confront his former Padawan while aiding Republic agent Theron Shan on a mission to stop Darth Karrid’s superweapon, the Ascendant Spear.

When the Eternal Empire emerged from the Unknown Regions and attacked both the Republic and the Empire, the Jedi Order’s numbers were left thinned. Gnost-Dural, one of the few surviving members of the Jedi Council, established a secret colony on Ossus along with Jedi Master Tau Idair. In 3628 BBY, he and the colony accepted the help of Eternal Alliance commander Larisa in fending off the Sith Empire’s invasion on Ossus.

Tolada Boorr (3542-3439 BBY)

Barra-Rona-Ban (-990 BBY)

Barra-Rona-Ban was a Cerean male Jedi Master who served as Chief Librarian during the final years of the New Sith Wars.

Restelly Quist (990 BBY-)

Restelly Quist succeeded Barra-Rona-Ban as Chief Librarian following the Cerean’s retirement. As head of the Council of First Knowledge, Master Quist recognized the need for wisdom among her fellow Jedi and believed that students did not focus enough on their studies due to the turmoil the Sith Wars had brought. Confident that the Sith had been vanquished for good, Quist brought swift reform the Jedi Archives and helped pen the book The Jedi Path, which detailed the steps one must take in order to become a Jedi Knight. 

Jocasta Nu (52-19 BBY)

Raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Jocasta Nu was a firebrand Jedi known for her strength and determination. Having served as Chief Librarian since her mid-thirties, Jocasta was greatly confident of the information contained by the Archives and strongly believed that anything that could not be found in the Archives’ files simply did not exist.

During her tenure as Chief Librarian, Jocasta served on the Jedi Council for ten years before stepping down so as to focus on her duties at the Archives. Shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, she provided assistance for the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi in his search for the planet Kamino, which had secretly been deleted from the archives from the former Jedi (and Jocasta’s former peer) Count Dooku. At the end of the Clone Wars, she was killed by fallen Jedi Anakin Skywalker as he led the attack on the Jedi Temple at the onset of the Great Jedi Purge.

Appa Nakil (10-26 ABY)

Born nearly a century before the rise of the Empire, Appa Nakil’s Force-sensitivity was hidden from the Jedi Order out of resentment for the Order keeping Oppo Rancisis away from his birthright at the Blood Monarch of Thisspias. Following the Jedi Purge, Nakil underwent a personal mission to recover Jedi artifacts and preserve the Order’s history as much as he could. This eventually led him to cross paths with Luke Skywalker following the Battle of Endor and, under Skywalker’s tutelage, Nakil went on the become a founding member of the New Jedi Order as well as the first Chief Librarian of the restored Jedi Archives.

After the Imperial Sith War, Nakil stepped down from his position and retired to Thisspias. For reasons unknown, he ended up joining the Sith Order of Darth Sedriss, taking on the name Lord Serpriss, though he was notably less attuned to the dark side than his fellow Sith Lords. In 41 ABY, he accompanied fellow ex-Jedi Viron to warn the Jedi Council of Varon Krul’s plot, only to be confronted and killed by his former apprentice Odan Murk, secretly one of Varon’s followers.

Tionne (26 ABY-)

Born on the planet Rindao, Tionne grew up listening to stories of the Jedi, imparted onto her by her grandmother. When the Empire executed her grandmother for spreading knowledge of the Jedi, Tionne escaped and spend the next several years traveling in search of more knowledge on the Jedi. Around 11 ABY, she received a tip on the location of Exis Station, which once housed a Jedi concave thousands of years ago, and asked her informant to seek out Luke Skywalker for reimbursement. In return, Luke sought out Tionne himself and offered to train her at the new Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4. Tionne agreed and, together with her master Appa Nakil, reconstructed the Jedi Archives from the combined lore the two of them had collected since the Jedi Purge.

After Master Nakil stepped down, Tionne was elevated to the position of Chief Librarian and granted her former master’s seat on the Jedi Council, continuing to expand the Archives and educate students on Jedi lore, ensuring that the legacy of the Jedi would be remembered for generations to come.

Tolada Boorr is an original character created to flesh out the backstory of Darth Desolous.

Star Wars Destiny Chronicles: Jedi Archives -- Battlemasters of the Jedi Order

BATTLEMASTERS OF THE JEDI ORDER

    The Jedi Battlemaster serves as the chief lightsaber instructor of the Jedi Order, overseeing all lightsaber training at the Jedi Temple. While individual academies have been known to have their own Battlemaster, there is typically only one Battlemaster at a time that oversees all others. During the days of the Old Republic, the Battlemaster also served as something of a military leader during the Sith Wars and often coordinated with the Minister of Defense.

Kao Cen Darach (-3681 BBY)

    A formidable Zabrak warrior, Kao Cen Darach was controversial in the eyes of some for his staunch opposition to the dark side of the Force, something which upset the Jedi Order's political position on Coruscant. Shortly before the Great Galactic War, he took on the young Satele Shan as his Padawan learner, a suitable fit for her prowess in battle meditation. In 4296 C.R.C., Master Darach and Satele were stationed over the Sith world of Korriban when it was attacked by the Sith Empire. The two Jedi dueled with the Sith Lord Vindican and his apprentice Malgus, the latter who delivered the fatal blow to the Zabrak Jedi Master. Meanwhile, Satele managed to escape to the Republic and went on to become Grand Master of the Jedi Order thirty years later.

Jun Seros (-3641 BBY)

    Deeply committed to the Order and the Republic, Battlemaster Jun Seros acted as a general in the Republic military, liberating such worlds as Toola from the clutches of the Sith Empire. After the Treaty of Coruscant, Master Seros came to serve as an aide to Supreme Chancellor Janarus and protected him from a bounty hunter hired by Darth Tormen to assassinate Janarus. Despite Seros' great skill, he was eventually killed by the Hunter. However, his legacy lived on among the Whiphid natives of Toola and his name became immortalized in their folklore. Many Whiphid were named after the Battlemaster, including an operative of the Rebel Alliance who owned a cantina on Tatooine.

Larisa (3638 BBY-)

    A human-Sephi hybrid from Deralia, Larisa made a name for herself among the Jedi when she destroyed the Sith Emperor's body on Dromund Kaas in 4336 C.R.C. After defeating the Revanite cult, she was promoted to the rank of Battlemaster and went on to play a prominent role in the war against the Eternal Empire.

Dion Sazon (-3452 BBY)

    A strong Pau'an warrior from Utapau, Dion Sazon's incredible talent in lightsaber combat saw him quickly rise to the rank of Battlemaster. However, he was greatly tempted by the teachings of the dark side and delved into the Jedi Temple's archive of Sith history against the wishes of his peers. When he refuse to cease his studies, the Jedi Council expelled him from the Order. Infuriated, Sazon embraced the dark side and became the Sith Lord Darth Desolous, waging a three-year long war against the Republic.

Hahkann (3452 BBY-)

    A member of the Jedi Council as well as a former student of Master Sazon, Hahkann was promoted the rank of Battlemaster following Sazon's expulsion. The powerful Dowutin fought against his former master during the Battle of Yaga Minor and was one of only a handful of surviving Masters after the Sith Lord had been vanquished.

Lord Hoth (-1010 BBY)

   Born Rohlan of Kaal, the Jedi Lord Hoth was a key figure during the final years of the New Sith Wars. When the fallen Jedi Skere Kaan united the fragmented Sith and formed the Brotherhood of Darkness, Hoth left the Jedi Temple to form the Army of Light and wage his own personal campaign against Lord Kaan and his Brotherhood. After ten years of fighting, Lord Hoth met his end when Kaan unleashed a thought bomb which wiped out Jedi and Sith alike, ending the Sith Wars.

Skarch Vaunk (fl. 990 BBY)

    In the wake of the New Sith Wars, the Anx Jedi Master Skarch Vaunk rose to the rank of Battlemaster, holding her students to very high standards.

Cin Drallig (-19 BBY)

    A human male from Lavisar, Cin Dralig was the last Battlemaster of the Old Jedi Order, training countless students -- among them Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. When Skywalker fell to the dark side and led an attack on the Jedi Temple, Drallig and his apprentice Serra Keto engaged the newly christened Darth Vader in combat, though both were summarily slain by the Sith Lord.

Morin Tharr (10-27 ABY)

    A survivor of the Great Jedi Purge, Morin Tharr was found on Zegris shortly after the founding of the New Jedi Order and agreed to serve on the reestablished Jedi Council, acting as the first Battlemaster for a new generation. During the Imperial Sith War, Master Tharr was often seen on the front-lines leading Jedi Knights into battle. After the war, Tharr stepped down from the Council and later became one with the Force, having lived a long and fruitful life. 

Kyle Katarn (27 ABY-)

    The current Battlemaster of the Jedi Order, Kyle Katarn was once a soldier in the Imperial Army before joining the Rebel Alliance and eventually becoming an early student of the New Jedi Order. After demonstrating formidable skill in the war against the Imperial Sith, Katarn was nominated by Master Tharr to succeed him as Battlemaster and was unanimously promoted by the Jedi Council.

    -Kao Cen Darach originates from the "Return" cinematic trailer for the multi-player role-playing game The Old Republic. 

    -Jun Seros also originates from The Old Republic. He shares a name with a Whiphid rebel from the Rebellion Era Sourcebook, which is coincidental both in and out-of-universe. However, I decided to make a connection between the two by having Jun Seros be something of a folk hero among the primitive Whiphid.

    -Larisa is an original character designed for the Jedi Knight class story in The Old Republic (should I ever play the game).

Star Wars Destiny Chronicles: Jedi Archives -- Dynasties of the Force

FORCE DYNASTIES

    Though rare, there have been known to be long-lasting Force-sensitive bloodlines throughout the history of the Jedi Order. Because romance and relationships were often forbidden by the Jedi Code (perhaps to discourage such bloodlines from existing), there have only been a handful of "Jedi dynasties" known to have existed in the Jedi Order's 25,000 years of existence. However, it cannot be denied that these bloodlines have had a lasting impact on the Order and even the galaxy at large.

The Skywalkers

    The most recent and, arguably, most well-known Jedi bloodline is that of the Skywalkers. While his mother Shmi was not known to be Force-sensitive, Anakin Skywalker went on to become a powerful Jedi Knight (as well as a Sith Lord) and turn out to be the prophesied Chosen One of Jedi legend when he killed Darth Sidious in 7981 C.R.C. His legacy was continued by twins Luke and Leia and flourishes today through Leia's children with Han Solo.

Notable members:

    Shmi Skywalker (7905-7955), the mother of Anakin Skywalker. Sold into slavery at a young age, she was believed to have been impregnated by the Force in response to the growing power of the Sith. After Anakin was taken into the Jedi Order by Qui-Gon Jinn, Shmi remained in the service of the Toydarian Watto before being freed by moisture farmer Cliegg Lars, whom she later married. She was later captured and mortally wounded by the Tusken Raiders, dying in her son's arms.

    Anakin Skywalker (7936-7981), the son of Shmi Skywalker. After being freed from slavery by Qui-Gon Jinn, he was trained in the ways of the Force by Obi-Wan Kenobi before becoming a Jedi Knight at the start of the Clone Wars. Plagued by the fear of his wife Padme Amidala dying, Anakin turned to Darth Sidious for tutelage and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader, bringing about the fall of the Jedi Order. A fateful encounter with Kenobi left Vader encased in a suit of armor, becoming a feared icon of the Galactic Empire. After discovering the existence of his son Luke, Vader was gradually pulled back to the light side before ending Sidious' reign once and for all during the Battle of Endor.

    Luke Skywalker (7958-8003), the son of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. Raised on Tatooine by Owen and Beru Lars to keep him out of the Empire's reach, Luke began training as a Jedi under Obi-Wan Kenobi and went on to become a hero of the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. After finishing his training under Master Yoda, Luke confronted Darth Vader and was able to bring his father back to the light. He proceeded to begin rebuilding the Jedi Order, establishing an academy on Yavin 4 and taking on many apprentices under his wing, including Toah Jarsan. During the final battle with the Sith of Darth Vorath, Luke sacrificed himself to help Toah bring an end to Vorath.

    Leia Skywalker (7958-), daughter of Anakin Skywalker and twin sister of Luke. Raised on Alderaan by Bail and Breha Organa, Leia quickly rose as an important figure in the Rebel Alliance, leading many successful campaigns against the Galactic Empire. When Luke revealed her true legacy to her, Leia agreed to help her brother in rebuilding the Jedi Order, though she dedicated most of her work to the New Republic. After the Imperial Sith War, Leia was elected Chief of State though she was forced to step down due to the growing corruption and infighting within the Senate. Around 8017, she helped Toah Jarsan set up a Resistance to combat the threat of Darth Taral and his mysterious masters.

    Kane Skywalker (7959-), a clone of Anakin Skywalker created by Darth Vorath. Designed as an attempt to test the power of a Chosen One unhindered by life-support armor, Darth Nemesis proved to be not as strong as Vorath had hoped and was constantly looked over by his master. A feeling of resentment would fester within Nemesis over the course of Vorath's campaign against the New Republic, eventually leading him to turn against the Dark Lord and help the Jedi bring an end to the Sith Empire. Joining the Jedi Order, he took on the name Kane Skywalker and helped drive off the remnants of Vorath's Empire. Shortly after the Glorian War however, Kane departed for parts unknown and has not been seen since.

    Ben Solo (7982-), the eldest son of Leia Skywalker and Han Solo. At the age of three, he was abducted by a mysterious party and presumed dead by all but his mother, who could still feel him through the Force albeit barely. Despite several years of searching, it would not be until 8017 that Ben Solo resurfaced as the dark warrior "Kylo Ren."

    Jacen and Jaina Solo (7986-), the twin children of Leia Skywalker and Han Solo. Strong in the Force like their mother and uncle, they rose to prominence around the time of the Imperial Sith War and have continued to serve the Jedi Order into the Glorian War.

    Anakin Solo (7987-), the youngest son of Han and Leia. During the Glorian War, he helped locate the Star Maps of Dantooine, Tatooine, and Kashyyyk before teaming up with Toah Jarsan to destroy the rebuilt Star Forge, foiling the Glorians and their plans.

The Sunriders

    The Sunriders made a name for themselves around the time of the Old Sith Wars and had a lineage that lasted well until the twilight years of the Old Republic. However, by that time their name had long fallen into the realm of myth, and the connection the more recent generations had to those of old were known only by a few.

    The grandson of Jedi Master Jev Sunrider, Andur was trained in the ways of the Force by Master Chamma while raising his family on H'ratth. In 3978, while traveling to Ambria to complete his training under Master Thon, Andur was murdered by criminals after Adegan crystals. His wife Nomi then took up his lightsaber and struck down the crooks while defending their daughter Vima. Andur's Force ghost then guided Nomi and Vima to Ambria, where they fell under the tutelage of Jedi Master Thon and began their training.

    It wasn't long before Nomi Sunrider proved herself to be a powerful Jedi Knight in her own right. After quashing the Naddist Uprising on Onderon, she took part in the Great Sith War against the Sith Lords Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma -- the latter being her former lover. After severing Qel-Droma's connection to the Force and vanquishing Exar Kun on Yavin 4, Nomi saw the Sith War brought to an end before leading the efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order in its aftermath. As Grand Master, she restructured the Jedi Council into a twelve-member seat of power and instated rules forbidding attachment, something which had caused the Sith War to begin with.

    Like her mother, Vima Sunrider was also incredibly skilled in the Force, something she demonstrated at an early age under Master Thon's tutelage. After the Sith War, she hoped to continue her training under her mother but was often neglected because of Nomi's newfound duties as Grand Master. In 3991, she traveled to Rhen Var to seek out the exiled Ulic Qel-Droma, convincing him to take her on as his apprentice. After Qel-Droma's death, Vima's training was finally completed by Nomi and she turned out to be one of the greatest Jedi of her age.

    When the Mandalorian Wars broke out, the Sunriders were split on the proper course of action. While Nomi and the Jedi Council were against the Order getting involved, Vima empathized with the views of Revan and his Jedi Crusaders, of which Vima's former apprentice Meetra Surik was a member. While she never publicly joined or supported the Revanchists, Vima often played "Sith's advocate" in their favor, something which irritated the more hardlined members of the Council such as Vrook Lamar and Atris.

    When Nomi went into a self-imposed exile, Vima was nominated to fulfill her role as Grand Master. While she had her fair share of supporters on the Council, the objections of Lamar and others prevented a unanimous vote from being reached, leaving the position vacant for the remainder of the Mandalorian Wars and into the Jedi Civil War. When the Order was wiped out by the Sith Triumvirate, Vima was one of the handful of Jedi to survive the Purge. After the end of the Dark Wars, Vima came out of hiding along with her secret child, whom she had given birth to without the Order's knowledge. While she was offered the rank of Grand Master once more, Vima turned it down in favor of an advisory role on the reformed Jedi Council, seeing Bastila Shan as a far more capable leader than herself.

    Through her child, the Sunrider bloodline would continue on for several generations. However, by the time of the Golden Age of the Republic, the Sunriders had fallen into the realm of legends with its present members going by the name of Da'Boda, Nomi's maiden name. In 7787, Vima-Da-Boda was born and brought into the Jedi Order for training, eventually attaining the rank of Jedi Knight. While away on a mission in the Outer Rim, Vima gave birth to a daughter named Neema, whom she brought into the Order as a child she had allegedly found out in the Outer Rim, though some members of the Jedi Council -- including Master Yoda -- suspected there was more to her than meets the eye.

    Neema was eventually selected by her mother as a Padawan learner and trained in the ways of the Force. However, Neema grew frustrated with Vima's slow manner of teaching and she abandoned her mother to the dark side, eventually getting herself married to an Ottethan warlord. When said warlord trapped Neema within an oubliette, Neema sent a plea for help to her mother through the Force. When Vima reached her, she discovered that Neema had already been fed to rancors and she struck down the warlord in anger.

    Realizing what she had done, Vima-Da-Boda went into exile and hid in the slums of Nar Shaddaa. Due to the fact that her connection to the Force had faded, she was able to evade the Empire's notice when they brought about the Jedi Purge in 7958. During this time, she would cross paths with Han Solo and Kyp Durron, both who would later become major players in the defeat of the Empire and reformation of the Jedi Order, respectively. By 8002, she had joined the crew of Raj Braven, though her presence was only mildly tolerated. After the Imperial Sith War, Vima and Raj's crew accompanied Toah Jarsan to Dromund Kaas, where they were all killed by Atha Prime save for Toah himself.

The Shans

    While the earliest known members of the Shan family were not Force-sensitive, their daughter Bastila would go on to make the family's name one that would be remembered for centuries to come.

    Born seventeen years before the Jedi Civil War, Bastila Shan was raised by her parents on Talravin and had fond memories of spending time with her treasure hunting father. When her Force-sensitivity was discovered, Bastila's mother Helena pushed her into joining the Jedi Order, hoping that the Jedi would provide her daughter with a better life than she and her husband ever could provide.

    Trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Tolaris Shim, Bastila quickly gained notoriety in the Jedi Order for her gift of battle meditation, a rare ability possessed by few Jedi. This made her a valuable asset to both the Order and the Galactic Republic when the Jedi Civil War broke out.

    Two years into the war, Bastila led a Jedi strike team to infiltrate the flagship of Darth Revan and capture the Sith Lord. Before they could engage Revan on the bridge of his ship, the Dark Lord's apprentice Darth Malak fired upon the destroyer, the resulting blast mortally wounding Revan. As the Sith Lord clung to life, Bastila used the Force to keep him alive as she and the surviving members of her team escorted him to safety. Unbeknownst to her at the time, this act would create a Force bond between her and Revan.

    Bastila brought Revan before the Jedi Council, who decided to reprogram his mind and create a new identity for him as a way to stop the Sith Empire once and for all. Because of her Force bond with Revan, Bastila was tasked with watching over the amnesiac Sith Lord and using their connection to unravel the mystery of the Star Forge, a superweapon under the Sith's control.

    In 4021 C.R.C., Bastila was in command of the Endar Spire when it was shot down over Taris by Sith forces. After crash-landing on the planet, she was captured by the Black Vulkars only to be rescued by the amnesiac Revan. She then brought him with her to Dantooine so he could retrain as a Jedi before accompanying him on his quest to locate the Star Maps. During the quest, she was captured by Darth Malak and brainwashed into his Sith apprentice, using her battle meditation against the Republic. However, she was brought back to the light by Revan -- having since discovered his true identity -- and she used her ability to turn the tide back in the Republic's favor.

    After the war's end, Bastila and Revan were married against the objections of the Jedi Council. Not long after Revan departed for the Unknown Regions to uncover the mystery of his origins, Bastila gave birth to their son, Vaner. While Revan never returned, Bastila went on to help rebuild the Jedi Order following the Dark Wars, eventually being named Grand Master and head of the new Jedi Council.

    Despite both of his parents being powerful Jedi, Vaner Shan never turned out to be Force-sensitive, preventing him from becoming a Jedi. This did not deter him from making a name for himself however as he eventually entered the field of politics, becoming a major leader in the Republic as it rebuilt itself from the devastation it had suffered during the Sith Wars. In 4077, he ran for the office of Supreme Chancellor. While his relationship to Bastila made him a popular candidate, it also cost him the race because many were wary of the Jedi having any kind of influence in the Senate, with some even suspecting nepotism. While none of these feelings had any factual validation, Vaner nonetheless lost the race to Iden Vanicus. Despite this, Vaner continued to be a major political figure in the Galactic Senate and remained an ally of Chancellor Vanicus until she left office in 3995 C.R.C.

    The Shan legacy was continued through Vaner's children, Bress and Reesa, both who had inherited their grandparents' Force-sensitivity and would later become members of the Jedi Order. While Bress remained a dedicated member of the Jedi Order, his younger sister Reesa often clashed with the Jedi Council's views on attachment and marriage, something which continued to her eventual descendant Tasiele Shan.

    In 4278, Tasiele bore a daughter named Satele, who was taken into the Jedi Order while her mother was exiled by the Council at the behest of the Republic. Having inherited her ancestor's ability of battle meditation, Satele Shan would go on to become a valuable member of the Jedi Order during the Great War. After the Treaty of Coruscant, Satele rediscovered the Jedi's ancient homeworld of Tython and helped the Order recover from the war, eventually being named Grand Master.

    During the war, Satele had given birth to a son named Theron, whom she placed in the care of Master Ngani Zho for Jedi training. However, like Vaner, Theron was not Force-sensitive and thus rejected by the Order for further training. Instead, he ended up joining the Republic's Strategic Information Service, becoming a valued agent during the Cold War. Along with the Sith Lord Lana Beniko, he became a close ally of the individual known as the Outlander. Some records indicate that the Outlander was a female Near-Human named Larisa and suggested that she and Theron had a romantic relationship. Whether the Shan legacy continued through them has yet to be discovered.

AUTHOR FOOTNOTES

   -Most of the info regarding the Skywalker is canonical to the original six Saga films, with Luke's fate being unique to the final installment of my first Destiny series.

    -Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo, originates from Episode VII and is not canonical to the Legends Expanded Universe, which Destiny has its roots in. His backstory and fall to the dark side have been drastically altered (mainly with him being abducted rather than being an ex-Jedi) in order to make him fit.

   -Nomi and Vima's actions during the Mandalorian Wars and Jedi Civil War are original to this piece. However, it is very common for SW fan-fic writers to use them as leaders of the Jedi Order in works set during this time period, so the idea itself isn't exactly unique even if the details are.

    -Vima-Da-Boda's fate is not depicted in Legends canon and is instead unique to my Destiny saga.

    -Bastila Shan's age is not explicitly stated in the Knights of the Old Republic video game, though it can be inferred that she's younger than the player character and not that much older than Mission Vao (who is 14). I've decided to make Bastila around nineteen or twenty during the events of KOTOR because that seems to be Star Wars' favorite age for young protagonists (see: Luke, Anakin, Rey).

   -Tolaris Shim is a Jedi character created for Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force by Ryder Windham. I decided to use the character in the role of Bastila's master because, in the book, they discusses the four stages of redemption in relation to Ulic Qel-Droma, something which I thought paralleled the redemption of Bastila's future husband Revan.

    -While Vaner Shan is stated to be running for Supreme Chancellor in the novel The Old Republic: Revan, I thought it would be more interesting if he didn't win the race as one might expect and instead have him lose to a descendant of Admiral Vanicus from the Tales of the Jedi comic books.

    -Not much is known of Bress and Reesa Shan other than that they are the children of Vaner. As such, the fact that they became Jedi is original to this fanfic.

Star Wars Destiny Chronicles: Wanted by Cracken -- Black Sun

BLACK SUN

    Black Sun is a criminal organization that has been operating from Coruscant since after the Treaty of Coruscant in 4324 C.R.C. A powerful syndicate of influential gangsters and crime lords, it managed to evade the law of Republic thanks to its many fronts as well as countless bribes to those in high offices.

    Black Sun is run by an Underlord who oversees the territories and sectors of nine Vigos (Old Tionese for "nephew"). Each Vigo is powerful in their own right, hence requiring us to keep as many tabs on them as possible.

    UPDATE: As of 8017, all of Black Sun's Vigos -- including the Underlord -- have been executed and the syndicate's operations have ceased. However, rumors suggest that Black Sun's remaining assets have been absorbed by the mysterious Malvis Cabal.

PRINCE XALREN AND HIS VIGOS (8007-8017 C.R.C.)

Xalren Mithric

   Born: Unknown (estimated to be well over a hundred years old)

   Status: Deceased

   A scion of House Mithric, Prince Xalren was fierce rivals with fellow Falleen Xizor, who ruled Black Sun at the time. When Xizor perished in 7980, Xalren decided to bide his time before taking over Black Sun for himself and instead accumulated political power on Falleen for the next twenty years.

    Following the capture of Czethros, Xalren set to work by reassembling the dissident cells of Black Sun, bringing them back together with the promise of a better future. The Glorian War served as a useful distraction for Xalren as he continued to restore the syndicate to its glory days under Xizor. After the war, Xalren became part of Varon Krul's conspiracy to overthrow the Galactic Alliance, though the murder of his Vigos at the hands of the rogue Mandalorian Kadar proved to be a detrimental.

    In 8017, after having lost his top lieutenant Sal Tyrius, Xalren promoted five of his underlings to replace them. Not long after however, Xalren and his new council were all obliterated by a bomb on Mustafar, bringing an end to Black Sun and its activities.

Sal Tyrius

   Curator of the Diamond Chest on Arkania, Sal Tyrius sees great value -- both sentimental and monetary -- in historic artifacts. Having studied the histories of all major galactic powers -- from the Old Republic to the Mandalorians to the Sith -- Tyrius prides himself in being more knowledgeable than not just other Arkanians but any other sentient being in the galaxy.

    Because of the vast wealth he had accumulated from his business, Tyrius became one of the first to be recruited into Xalren's Black Sun and was named the "eldest" of the Vigos. What operations Tyrius oversaw is unknown, though he is believed to have had ties with the scientist Mal Banvor and may have helped fund the Skakoan's laboratories.

    During Krul's Insurgency, Wraith Squadron tracked down Tyrius to Arkania and interrogated him of Black Sun's ties with the Imperial Remnant and Moff Drikl Lecersen's conspiracy. Not long after the Wraiths departed, Tyrius was found dead at his desk in the Diamond Chest, a blaster wound burned through his skull.

Targeting the rich, Obez made a large profit from the bounties he turned in, enough for him to retire early and purchase Colliders Casino on Lianna in the Tion Cluster. When Black Sun was reorganized around 8007 C.R.C., Obez was recruited as one of the nine Vigo lieutenants of Prince Xalren.

    Scav was believed to have joined the Lok Revenants in his teenage years, mentored by the Revenants' leader Nym -- another Feeorin like Scav. After the Galactic Civil War, Nym retired and passed down the role of leadership to Scav; however, Scav quickly proved to be a lot more heartless and cruel than Nym had ever been, showing no love to either the Empire or the New Republic as he led the Lok Revenants on countless raids. By 8001, Scav had earned an infamous reputation that likely played into him joining Black Sun under Czethros and being promoted to Vigo by Prince Xalren.

GRAND MASTERS OF THE JEDI ORDER

    For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Order has been guided by the wisdom of the Grand Master. Traditionally, the title has been assigned to the Jedi Master who is considered to be the wisest and most talented of the Order, and is exclusively appointed by the members of the High Council. While separate from the rank of Master of the Order, who is the elected leader of the High Council, more often than not the Grand Master fulfills both roles, especially during times of conflict.

    The following names are of those who are known to have served as Grand Master during the Jedi Order's many years of existence. Due to the passage of time as well as the efforts of the Empire to purge Jedi history, many records are incomplete, though I shall do my best to keep them updated as more is uncovered.

Awdrysta Pina (fl. 24,500 BBY)

    Awdrysta Pina is the earliest known Grand Master and allegedly the first to hold the title. Informally known as the "Green Blade" for the color of his twin katanas, Master Pina led the Jedi in the conflict against the Legions of Lettow during what is remembered as the First Great Schism. During the Battle of Columus, Pina slayed the Legions' leader Xendor before setting his sights on the Dark Jedi's lieutenant Arden Lyn. Chasing her to the remote world of Irkalla, Pina was mortally wounded with his own blades but was able to use the last of his energy to cripple Lyn.

Biel Ductavis (fl. 10,966 BBY)

    Biel Ductavis served as Grand Master during the late Pius Dea Era. For most of the era, the Jedi Order had stayed out of affairs while the Pius Dea-ruled Republic invaded worlds in the name of their religion. During the Seventh Alsakan Conflict, the Jedi were finally pushed to action and allied with the Republic Renunciates to strike back at the Pius Dea Republic. After capturing Chancellor Contispex XIX above Uquine, Master Ductavis assumed the position of Supreme Chancellor and led both it and the Jedi in restoring the galaxy from the damage wrought to it by the Pius Dea.

Memit Nadill (fl. 5000 BBY)

    Memit Nadill was a revered Jedi Master who served as Grand Master during the Unification Wars. When the Sith Empire attacked the Republic in 5000 BBY, Master Nadill -- despite his distaste for violence -- rallied the Jedi into defending the galaxy against the Sith in what became known as the Great Hyperspace War. After the war's end, Nadill discarded his lightsaber as a declaration of pacifism as well as out of hope that the Jedi would never need to take up arms again.

Odan-Urr (4600-3996 BBY)

    Odan-Urr was a former student of Memit Nadill and a Jedi Knight who had fought in the Great Hyperspace War. A Draethos exile, Odan-Urr founded the Great Jedi Library of Ossus and created a version of the Jedi Code that the Order would abide by for the next four thousand years. In 4600 BBY, Odan-Urr was named Grand Master, presiding the Jedi assembly through the Third Great Schism and into the Great Sith War. In 3996 BBY, Master Odan-Urr was killed by the fallen Jedi Exar Kun when he broke into the Great Library to steal the Dark Holocron.

Nomi Sunrider (3995-c.3964 BBY)

    Nomi Sunrider was a famous Jedi Knight who fought in the Great Sith War against Exar Kun and his Brotherhood. After the war, which had saw to the deaths of such revered masters as Odan-Urr, Arca Jeth, and Vodo-Siosk Baas, Nomi and her fellow Knights took on the duty of rebuilding the Jedi Order from the losses it had suffered. Relocating the Order to Coruscant, Nomi saw to a restructuring of the Jedi Council -- establishing a twelve-member High Council to oversee all others -- and it wasn't long before she was named Grand Master for her efforts.

    When the threat of the Mandalorian Wars began to loom, Master Sunrider had no desire to see the Order be pulled into another conflict yet could not deny that something dark was afoot. Around 3964 BBY, she undertook a sabbatical to meditate and investigate these feelings, leaving Vrook Lamar in the position of Master of the Order. When or even if Sunrider ever returned from her sabbatical is unknown, though she is not recorded as having taken part in the war against Darth Revan's Sith Empire.

Bastila Shan (3950 BBY-)

    After the Jedi Civil War, the position of Grand Master was left unoccupied until after the conclusion of the Dark Wars. Having suffered heavy losses at the hands of the Sith Triumvirate, the Jedi Order was but a fraction of what it had once been and was forced to look to its handful of survivors in the hopes of ever rebuilding. While the Jedi Exile brought together the Lost Jedi after defeating the Sith, she turned down the duty of leadership in favor of searching for the lost Revan.

    As the most experienced of the remaining Jedi, having fought in the Jedi Civil War and confronted Darth Revan himself, Bastila Shan undertook the role of Grand Master and set about rebuilding the Order with help of the Exile's former companions.

Zym (3691-3653 BBY)

    Zym was promoted to the rank of Grand Master a decade before the outbreak of the Great Galactic War in 3681 BBY. A pacifistic Kel Dor, Zym was ill-prepared for the violence that the Sith Empire would bring upon the galaxy and entrusted much of the war effort with more militant Masters such as Belth Allusis and Jun Seros while he served as an adviser to the Supreme Chancellor.

    In 3653 BBY, the Great War came to an end with the Sacking of Coruscant, which saw to the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the Republic being forced into a peace treaty. Shortly afterwards, Master Zym was assassinated by the bounty hunter Braden, further weakening the Order after the losses it had suffered from the war.

Satele Shan (c.3651-3637 BBY)

   A descendant of Bastila Shan and a hero of the Great War, Satele Shan revitalized the Jedi Order when she rediscovered its lost ancestral homeworld of Tython. For her discovery, she was promoted to Jedi Master and given a seat on the High Council before being named Grand Master by 3645 BBY.

   Master Shan would continue to lead the Jedi Order as it reentered the war against the Sith Empire. In 3637 BBY, both the Republic and the Empire were attacked by the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. The Jedi Order suffered heavy losses before being forced to scatter while Master Shan went into a meditative exile, leaving the role of Grand Master vacant.

Axon Roden (3500-3439 BBY)

    A taciturn Vurk, Axon Roden was Grand Master of the Jedi when Battlemaster Dion Sazon left the Order and became the Sith Lord Darth Desolous. After a bloody conflict with the Pau'an's Army of Desolation, Roden and the Jedi Council set up a trap for Desolous on Yaga Minor, where all twelve Masters faced off with the Sith Lord in combat. While Roden and several others were killed, the remaining Masters were able to subdue Desolous and end his reign once and for all.

Niira Baelar (3439-3419 BBY)

    A peaceful Iktotchi seer, Niira Baelar was a member of the Jedi Council during the Desolation War and was forced to strike down Darth Desolous after he had killed Master Roden and many of her compatriots. Despite her misgivings, Baelar was promoted to Grand Master and served in this role for the next twenty years. During this time, she included a simulation of Darth Desolous in the Jedi Trials to warn prospective Knights of the dangers of the dark side.

Fae Coven (1000 BBY-)

    After four centuries of being led by Jedi Chancellors, the Jedi Order fell under the leadership of Grand Master Fae Coven following the conclusion of the New Sith Wars. During her tenure, Master Coven reorganized the Jedi academy structure and created a guidebook for prospective apprentices.

Yoda (-19 BBY)

    A renowned Jedi Master whose origins remain a mystery, Master Yoda became Grand Master several hundred years before the Clone Wars and has trained countless generations of Jedi. Like the rest of the Council, his mind was clouded by the growing strength of the dark side and did not realize that the Republic had fallen under the control of the Sith until it was too late. 

    After being bested in a duel with Darth Sidious, Yoda went into exile on Dagobah where he would remain for the next twenty years. During his exile, he was discovered by a young Luke Skywalker and agreed to train him in the ways of the Force. The following year, Yoda passed away of old age but not before passing on the duty of rebuilding the Jedi Order to Skywalker.

Luke Skywalker (10-26 ABY)

    The son of Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker took on the duty as given to him by Master Yoda and, after seeing to the defeat of Darth Sidious and his Empire, set about rebuilding the Jedi Order. After seeking out survivors of the Great Purge as well as prospective students, Skywalker established a Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, where the New Jedi Order would flourish for the next decade.

    In 25 ABY, Skywalker relocated the expanding Order to Ossus just as the Sith Order of Darth Vorath attacked the galaxy. During the Battle of Coruscant, Skywalker teamed up with his former apprentice Toah Jarsan to face off against Darth Vorath and destroyed the ancient Sith Lord's staff, albeit at the cost of his own life.

Xanus Baran (26-37 ABY)

    A survivor of the Jedi Purge, Xanus Baran was found by Luke Skywalker after the Battle of Endor and he agreed to join the revived Jedi High Council, serving as Skywalker's most trusted adviser. After the Imperial Sith War, Baran was promoted to Grand Master after Skywalker's sacrifice and led the Order when it entered the Glorian War. During a meeting with the leader of the Dark Jedi Order, Baran was abducted by Glorian agents and had his spirit extracted so that the entity Waru could inhabit his body. After Waru was vanquished, Baran's spirit became one with the Force.

Kro Sadoon (37-41 ABY)

    Another survivor of the Purge, Kro Sadoon was hiding among the Baran Do when he was discovered by Luke Skywalker and became a founding member of the New Jedi Order. Following Baran's demise, Sadoon took on the role of Grand Master, though he would eventually meet his end as well when the Sith forces of Darth Taral attacked Ossus.

THE EMPEROR'S HANDS

    The Emperor's Hands were dark side operatives that were personally trained by and answered directly to Emperor Palpatine himself. Serving as spies and assassins, the Emperor gave them tasks that required conspicuousness that could not be achieved by more public figures such as Darth Vader. While not considered Sith themselves, Palpatine would often toy with the idea of replacing Vader as his apprentice with one of his Hands, though this served more to keep the Dark Lord in line rather than to seriously entertain such an idea.

    The exact number of Hands remains unknown. Each one was led to believe that they were the only Hand, though some would discover the truth or at least carry suspicions. Below is a list of known Emperor's Hands.

    Mara Jade, a human female who was considered by Palpatine to be one of his best assassins and spies. Upon Palpatine's death at the Battle of Endor, Mara Jade received a telepathic command from the Emperor to kill the Jedi responsible for his demise: Luke Skywalker. Her life now in shambles, she turned to the life of a smuggler and eventually came to work for Talon Karrde. She would run into Skywalker five years after her master's death but was forced to work with him against the machinations of Grand Admiral Thrawn. After defeating Thrawn and the dark Jedi clone Joruus C'baoth, Jade turned her back on the dark side and began training as a Jedi Knight.

    Lumiya

    Arden Lyn, an ancient woman who hailed from the days of the First Great Schism. A Follower of Palawa, Arden Lyn was the lieutenant and lover of the fallen Jedi Xendor who led the Legions of Lettow. She was defeated in combat by Jedi Master Awdrysta Pina but was able to survive by putting herself in a Force trance. Her body was entombed only to be discovered a thousand generations later by a team of scouts, who used her Kashi Mer talisman to reawaken her and rejuvenate her body. After she was found and defeated by Imperial Inquisitors, Emperor Palpatine decided to spare Lyn's life and offered her a position as one of his Hands; in exchange for her service, he promised to help bring back Xendor's spirit from Chaos. After realizing that Palpatine had no intention of fulfilling his end of the deal, Lyn turned against the Emperor and began training other Force-sensitives in the arts of Teras Kasi while also allying herself with Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin in his planned coup against the Emperor, though this coup ultimately failed. After Endor, she met and fell in love with the Dark Jedi Durrei, who had been sent by Ennix Devian to retrieve the Kashi Mer talisman that Lyn possessed. After Durrei delivered the relic, Devian betrayed both him and Lyn to the Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne and Lyn herself would ultimately meet her end at the hands of the clone Emperor 

    Sarcev Quest, a human male who failed to reach the rank of Jedi Knight and was instead sent to the Agricultural Corps division of the Jedi Order. He was discovered by Chancellor Palpatine and pulled out of the AgriCorps to do the Chancellor's bidding, operating on his secret sanctuary world of Byss. Come the rise of the Empire, Quest was elevated to the rank of Emperor's Hand and operated in the Imperial Court to spy on the Emperor's political enemies. After the Emperor's death at the Battle of Endor, Quest helped ensure that Grand Vizier Sate Pestage remained in power despite the efforts of the Ruling Council to sabotage Pestage and take control of the Empire. When Pestage became too frustrating to work with, Quest allied himself with the Royal Guardsman Carnor Jax and the two began making plans for Jax to assume the Imperial throne for himself. These plans were usurped when Palpatine seemingly returned from the dead, prompting Quest and Jax to join this new Dark Empire. After the clone Emperor died at the hands of Darth Vorath and Jax mysteriously disappeared, Quest attempted to take control of what remained of the Ruling Council only to be imprisoned and tortured, before being dropped off on Nar Shaddaa. Twelve years later, he was apprehended by the bounty hunter Ailyn Vel and brought before former Emperor's Hand Jeng Droga, who promptly executed Quest. 

THE INQUISITORS

    The Inquisitorius was a secret branch of Imperial Intelligence that consisted of Force-sensitive agents trained in the dark side of the Force. The primary purpose of the Inquisitors was to track down and eliminate any Jedi who had survived the Purge, as well as any Force-sensitives that had not been taken into Jedi Order or were born after the Purge to either kill them or indoctrinate them into the Empire itself.

    The highest-ranking of the Empire's dark side adepts -- surpassing even the Emperor's Hands -- the Inquisitorius were divided into their own unique divisions. At the top was the division informally known as the Emperor's Elite. Trained by Darth Vader and comprised of former Jedi who had been seduced to the dark side, some even before the Purge, these Inquisitors were the go-to members to deal with Jedi survivors, especially those at the rank of Master. Meanwhile, the lower divisions were sent after Jedi who were less of a priority as well as to recover dark side artifacts and anything else that would be of interest to the Emperor.

    By the time of the Battle of Yavin, most of the Emperor's Elite had been killed at some point during the lead-up to the Galactic Civil War. Rather than replace their membership, the Emperor instead promoted the "public branch" and gave them missions that he would have otherwise given to the Elite. After the Emperor perished during the Battle of Endor, the Inquisitors descended into infighting, with many vying for control of the fragmented Empire. Many of them would wind up being recruited by Darth Vorath into his new Sith Order while others would become founding members of the Imperial Knights in the Imperial Remnant.

The Emperor's Elite

   The Grand Inquisitor, a Pau'an male who was once a Jedi Temple Guard. During the early days of the Purge, he lowered the Temple's defenses to allow Darth Vader and the 501st Legion to march into the Temple and murder the Jedi within. As reward for his service to the Sith, he was made leader of the Emperor's Elite and given the rank of Grand Inquisitor, a rank he secretly shared with Malorum. Around 5 BBY, he was sent to the planet Lothal to deal with the growing resistance, led by Jedi survivor Kanan Jarrus. However, the Grand Inquisitor met his match in Jarrus and was killed aboard the Sovereign in 4 BBY.

    The Second Sister (born Trilla Suduri), a human female Padawan who was captured by the Empire and converted into Inquisitor at one of Darth Vader's fortresses in the Mustafar system. In 14 BBY, she chased her former master Cere Junda and Purge survivor Cal Kestis across the galaxy during their search for Eno Cordova's holocron. During a confrontation with Kestis and Junda on Nur, the Second Sister began to see the wrongness in her actions only to be struck down by Vader before she could return to the light.

    The Fifth Brother, an alien male who was partnered with the Seventh Sister to pick up where the Grand Inquisitor had failed and quash Kanan Jarrus' band of rebels. However, they both met their end on Malachor at the hands of the former Sith Lord Darth Maul.

    The Sixth Brother (born Bil Valen), a humanoid male who was sent to Raada to investigate rumors of active Force-sensitives. While on the moon, he crossed paths with the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano who vanquished the Inquisitor by causing the Kyber crystals in his lightsaber to become unstable and explode, killing him. While the Sixth Brother's demise was reported to Vader, the perpetrator of his death remained unknown and it would be another fifteen years before Vader crossed paths with his former apprentice again.

    The Seventh Sister, a Mirialan female who was partnered with the Fifth Brother to deal with Kanan Jarrus's cell of rebels as well as to locate Force-sensitive infants in the Outer Rim. Like her partner, she was killed by Maul within a Sith temple on Malachor.

    The Eighth Brother, a male Jango Jumper from Terrelia who was given the task of tracking down the former Sith Lord Maul after he had been removed as the leader of the Crimson Dawn syndicate. After locating Maul on Malachor, the Eighth Brother crossed paths with Kanan Jarrus and his apprentice Ezra Bridger, forcing him to summon the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister for backup. However, he would quickly meet his end when Jarrus damaged his lightsaber, causing him to fall to his death as he attempted to flee.

    The Ninth Sister (born Masana Tide), a Dowutin female who joined Darth Vader, Sixth Brother and Tenth Brother in subjugating Mon Cala. Four years later, she joined Second Sister in chasing Cal Kestis, eventually crossing paths with the former Padawan on Kashyyyk and seemingly meeting her end.

    The Tenth Brother (born Prosset Dibs), a Miraluka male who was once a compatriot of Jedi Master Mace Windu during the Clone Wars. The chaotic conflict shook Dibs' faith in the Jedi and their positions as peacekeepers, leaving him susceptible to corruption by the dark side. In 18 BBY, he joined Ninth Sister and Sixth Brother in the subjugation of Mon Cala only to be inadvertently killed by Jedi survivor Ferren Barr when the Iktotchi turned the Purge Troopers against the Inquisitors.

Other Inquisitors

    Malorum, a human male who was granted the rank of Grand Inquisitor upon the creation of the Inquisitorious, unaware of his counterpart within the Emperor's Elite. Due to his low midichlorian count, Malorum had never been taken in by the Jedi Order and was working under Director Armand Isard when he was made an Inquisitor by Emperor Palpatine. In 18 BBY, Malorum met his end on Naboo during a duel with former Jedi Ferus Olin. Following his death, his former subordinate Hydra was promoted to the rank of Grand Inquisitor.

    Laddinare Torbin was a member of the Judicial Department during the Clone Wars. After Malorum and Hydra failed in their roles as Grand Inquisitor, Torbin was promoted to the rank himself and remained in the position for most of the Imperial Period, though he was aware of his Pau'an counterpart in the Emperor's Elite. After the Elite's Grand Inquisitor perished, Torbin was left the sole occupant of the rank until he met his end as well on the planet Weerden. With Torbin's death, the position of Grand Inquisitor was more or less abolished, though the Zabrak Ja'ce Yiaso was recognized as such by some of the Inquisitors under his command.

    Antinnis Tremayne, a human male from Coruscant who had once been the apprentice of Jedi Master Dav Kylanu. Ascending to the rank of High Inquisitor, Tremayne was one of the Inquisitorius' top agents and considered on par with the Elite by Darth Vader himself. After the Battle of Endor, Tremayne joined Lord Hethrir and the Empire Reborn, though his involvement was kept secret to most of its members including the Dark Jedi Desann.

    Jerec, a Miraluka Jedi Master who was captured by Antinnis Tremayne during the Purge. When given the promise of access to dark knowledge that the Jedi Council had forbidden, Jerec willingly became an Inquisitor and hunted down his Jedi brothers and sisters in exchange for the secrets of the dark side. After the Battle of Endor, Jerec embarked on a quest for the fabled Valley of the Jedi, a powerful Force nexus that he hoped would help him take over the galaxy. However, the Valley had been destroyed without his knowledge and Jerec ended up being recruited by the Sith Lord Darth Vorath after losing his band of seven Dark Jedi.

    Zale Ven was a survivor of the Great Jedi Purge. Recovered from the ruins of the Jedi Temple shortly after Operation: Knightfall, Ven pledged his allegiance to the Empire and trained as an Inquisitor by Darth Vader. Ven would go on to train a number of other Inquisitors, including the Iktotchi Naaro Viin, the Cerean Tarr-Nar-Mal, and the human Tares Mal. Although Ven killed his fair share of Jedi, he and his apprentices were mainly tasked with tracking down ancient Jedi sites and purging them of artifacts. After Endor, Ven led a small group of Inquisitors to Dromund Kaas, where they were recruited into the Crimson Empire as "Crimson Knights."

Star Wars Destiny Chronicles: Darksiders -- The Tale of Lord Momin

TRUE ART: THE TALE OF LORD MOMIN

    It is often said that true art is never recognized. If you were to say this to the ancient sculptor Lord Momin, he would certainly agree with you.

    Momin was born during the early years of the Draggulch Period. An artistic young Sephi, Momin murdered his pet rada-cat and used its carcass as part of a sculpture. This was just one of many of his disturbing techniques as he utilized the dark side of the Force in creating his art. When he attempted to show off his work to others, he was banded a madman and locked away, separated from his tools.

    Nonetheless, Momin's art left an impression and his name was spread across the galaxy. Eventually, word of his artistry reached the Sith Lady Shaa, who freed Momin from his prison and took the young Sephi under her wing, training him in the ways of the Sith. While his apprenticeship to Lady Shaa helped Momin understand his place in the galaxy, he found his role as a mere student to be distasteful and struck down his master, embarking on his own path independent to the schemes of other Sith active at the time.

    Desiring to create a piece of art worthy of the dark side itself, Momin plundered tombs and examined holocrons in search of knowledge. By 1820 BBY, he had accumulated enough resources and labor to create a superweapon with enough power to destroy an entire city. The Jedi received word of Momin's creation and tracked him down to the planet he had chosen to test his creation on.

    However, it was not simply destruction that Momin desired to bring about but rather to slow down time itself and freeze his victims in their last moments. When the Jedi boarded his vessel, their presence disturbed his concentration and caused him to lose control over the engine, destroying himself in the process. All that was left behind was his mask which the Jedi confiscated.

    After Momin's demise, his mask was placed deep within the archives of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Any records of the Sith sculptor were suppressed by Jedi and Sith alike, the latter whom came to see him as a heretic for valuing creation over destruction. Unbeknownst to either group however, the mask itself was still engraved with Momin's consciousness, a side effect caused by the loss of his superweapon.

    When the Galactic Empire destroyed the Jedi Order and took over the temple, Momin's mask was retrieved from the archives and fell into the possession of Darth Sidious, Emperor and ruling Dark Lord of the Sith. Sometime after the Empire's ascension, Sidious gifted the mask to his apprentice Darth Vader. Awakening the consciousness of Momin contained within the mask, Darth Vader convinced the ancient Sith Lord to help him construct a fortress on Mustafar. While Momin acquiesced to Vader's demands, he secretly had plans to use the fortress to create a dark side portal and recreate his vaporized body. However, Vader quickly grew wind of Momin's plans and vanquished the ancient Sith before he could succeed in his designs.

    The original fanon ("fan-made canon") backstory I made for Momin to include him in a Legends-based setting was to tie him with the backstory of Mustafar, since I originally thought the comic series featuring his Disney Canon backstory (Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith) was implying that he was responsible for Mustafar's volcanic state. However, the VR game Vader Immortal has since revealed that it was in fact a separate character known as Lady Corvax who was responsible for Mustafar's state. As such, I have decided to rewrite my version of Momin to fit him in a less-explored era. Below is the original "Mustafar" story I had written.

True Art: The Tale of Lord Momin

    It is often said that true art is never recognized. If you were to tell this to the ancient sculptor Lord Momin, he would certainly agree with you.

   Momin was born during the latter years of the Post-Manderon Period. An artistic young Sephi, Momin murdered his pet rada-cat in his creation of a sculpture, which was only one of his many disturbing techniques as he utilized the dark side of the Force in creating his art. When he attempted to show off his work to others, he was branded a madman and locked away, separated from his tools.

    Nonetheless, Momin's art left an impression, and his name was spread beyond the Thustra system and across the galaxy. Eventually, word of his artistry reached a Sith Lady by the name of Shaa, who served as a Marauder in Exar Kun's Brotherhood of Sith. Freeing Momin from his prison, Shaa took the young Sephi under her wing and trained him in the ways of the Sith.

    While his apprenticeship to Lady Shaa helped Momin understand his place in the galaxy, he found his role as a mere student to be distasteful and struck down his master, embarking on his own path independent to the schemes of Exar Kun and his brethren. Desiring to create a piece of art worthy of the dark side itself, Momin plundered tombs and examined holocrons in search of knowledge.

    By 3996 BBY, Lord Momin had accumulated enough resources and labor to create a superweapon with enough power to destroy an entire city. The Jedi received word of Momin's creation and tracked him down to the lush, green world of Mustafar, where Momin was already in the process of destroying a city.

    However, it was not simply destruction that Momin desired to bring about, but rather to slow down time itself and freeze his victims in their last moments. When the Jedi boarded his vessel however, their presence disturbed his concentration and caused him to lose control over the engine, destroying himself in the process. All that was left behind was his mask.

    Shortly after Lord Momin's demise, the Jedi attempted to destroy his creation in order to prevent it from falling into Exar Kun's hands. Momin's surviving acolytes stood in their way and the ensuing battle caused the engine to react unexpectedly, releasing Momin's lingering energies and pulling the gas giants Jestefad and Lefrani into Mustafar's proximity. The resulting gravitational tug-of-war turned Mustafar into the volcanic planet it is today and the Jedi were forced to withdraw from the dangerous world, taking Momin's mask with them.

    After the Great Sith War, the mask of Lord Momin was placed deep within the archives of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Any records of the Sith sculptor were suppressed by Jedi and Sith alike, the latter whom came to see him as a heretic for valuing creation over destruction. Unbeknownst to either group however, the mask itself was still engraved with Momin's consciousness, a side effect caused by the loss of his superweapon.

    When the Galactic Empire destroyed the Jedi Order and took over the temple, Momin's mask was retrieved from the archives and fell into the possession of Darth Sidious, Emperor and ruling Dark Lord of the Sith. Sometime after the Empire's ascension, Sidious gifted the mask to his apprentice Darth Vader, along with the very planet Momin had met his demise: Mustafar.

    Awakening the consciousness of Momin contained within the mask, Darth Vader convinced the ancient Sith Lord to help him construct a fortress on Mustafar.
