   -The Hand of Artakha is formed, led by Mallake, and lasts for several centuries until it is disbanded due to a lack of discipline. Helryx later forms the Order of Mata Nui to replace it. (The Hand of Artakha)
   -After the Hand of Artakha's disbandment, Mallake is banished to the Pit. (The Hand of Artakha)
   -The First Toa Team is formed, though all save their leader Lesovikk are killed by Zyglak.
   -The Toa Mata are awakened to be trained by the Order of Mata Nui. They are eventually placed into stasis until they are needed in the future.

   -The Barraki conquer the Matoran Universe.

    -The First Toa Team is killed by the [[Zyglak]] due to a moment of hesitation on Lesovikk's part. The team is posthumously known as the Toa Cordak, while Lesovikk swears off the title of Toa, living the rest of his life in regret.

    -The League of Six Kingdoms enlist the Makuta into creating Rahi for their campaigns.
    -The League forms a trade pact with Metru Nui in exchange for its freedom.

   -The League of Six Kingdoms plot to overthrow Mata Nui but are stopped by Makuta Teridax and later banished to the Pit. (City of the Lost)

The Great Disruption

   -The Matoran Civil War begins.
   -Due to the Matoran's negligence of work during the Civil War, Mata Nui falls ill and the Great Disruption begins. The Hand of Artakha is reformed as a response to this. (The Hand of Artakha)

   -The Matoran Civil War ends and its leaders are banished to the Pit.
   -In a response to the Civil War, Miserix assigns his fellow Makuta to different regions of the Matoran Universe to watch over its inhabitants and ensure that a similar event never happens again. (The Mutran Chronicles)
   -The Toa Valmai set out to find the Kanohi Ignika; one of their teammates uses the Mask of Life to restore the Great Spirit's health, sacrificing himself in the process.
   -Makuta Teridax overthrows Miserix and claims leadership of the Brotherhood of Makuta. He orders Krika and Spiriah to execute Miserix, but the former instead traps the former leader on the remote island of Artidax. (The Mutran Chronicles)

   -The Time Slip occurs, a six-month period which no one save for members of the Order of the Mata Nui can recall and no historical records exist of. During this time, several Av-Matoran are relocated to various locations in the Matoran Universe in order to protect them from the Makuta.
   -During the Time Slip, the Order of Mata Nui discovers a mysterious island known as Okoto. Knowing of the dangers that dwelt there, the Order seals the island away within a concealing forcefield which could only be broken by the efforts of three Psionics Toa should the need arise. (Volume IV)

   -Toa Dume saves the life of a Ta-Matoran Crafter named Lhikan.

   -Dume becomes Turaga of Metru Nui.

   -The Makoki Stone is written as a complete record of the Brotherhood of Makuta by Toa who do not trust the Brotherhood. It is then sealed away at a Toa Fortress. (Legacy of Evil)

   -Lhikan becomes a Toa of Fire.

   -The Dark Hunters Zaktan, Hakann, Reidak, Thok, and Vezok plot to overthrow the Shadowed One but are discovered by the Dark Hunter leader himself. The Shadowed One then attempts to execute Zaktan, only to turn him into a cloud of Protodites instead. (Legacy of Evil)
5,000-4,000 years ago
   -The Kralhi are created by the Onu-Matoran Nuparu as enforcers of Metru Nui but prove to be too powerful. Refusing to be shut down, some Kralhi either hide in the Archives or leave Metru Nui. Subsequently, Nuparu creates the more successful Vahki to replace the Kralhi.
   -Kanoka disks are invented by the Ko-Matoran of Metru Nui.
   -The Chute system is developed by the Le-Matoran of Metru Nui.
Struggle for Metru Nui
4,000 years ago
   -The Shadowed One plans to take over Metru Nui and sends Avak, Reidak, and Vezok to intimidate Turaga Dume into allowing the Dark Hunters to establish operations in the City of Legends. When he refuses, they unleash the Kanohi Dragon to attack Metru Nui. The Toa Mangai arrive to defeat the Kanohi Dragon and drive the Dark Hunters away from the city. The dragon is then sent to Xia. 3,500 years ago
   -Toa Mangai Tuyet commences a series of Matoran murders in order to frame the Dark Hunter hunting for her and the Nui Stone she carries, and have her teammates Lhikan and Nidhiki get rid of them. However, Lhikan and Nidhiki quickly discover the person behind the murders and stop Tuyet from using the Nui Stone. The Toa of Water is then imprisoned by the Order of Mata Nui.    -The Toa-Dark Hunter War begins. (Birth of a Dark Hunter)
   -Toa Mangai Nidhiki sells out his teammates to the Dark Hunters only for the tables to be turned on him by Toa Lhikan. The defeated Dark Hunters depart from Metru Nui, taking the exiled Nidhiki with them. The Toa-Dark Hunter War ends. (Birth of a Dark Hunter)

   -After becoming a Dark Hunter, Nidhiki plots to betray the Shadowed One but is mutated by Roodaka, ensuring his continued loyalty. (Birth of a Dark Hunter)
Twilight in the Matoran Universe

   -Roodaka is employed by the Brotherhood of Makuta.

   -Makuta Kojol leads a raid on Artakha to steal the Kanohi Avohkii. As a result, Artakha's ruler requests the Order of Mata Nui to destroy every map leading to the island and to kill everyone who knows of its location, Kojol included. (The Mutran Chronicles; Volume III)

   -The Toa Hagah rebel against the Makuta and steal the Kanohi Avohkii; they are subsequently transformed into Rahaga by Roodaka, but manage to escape with the Mask of Light. As reward for mutating the Toa Hagah, Roodaka is made Viceroy of the Visorak Horde. (Birth of the Rahaga)

EMPIRE OF MAKUTA UNIVERSE
Great Cataclysm (divergence point)
   -Toa Mangai Lhikan creates Toa Stones and gives them to six Matoran: Ahkmou, Ehrye, Nuhrii, Orkahm, Tehutti, and Vhisola. (Volume I)
   -Makuta Teridax casts Mata Nui into a deep sleep, causing the Great Spirit to crash on Aqua Magna. This creates the Great Cataclysm, which wreaks havoc through out the Matoran Universe. For the next six months, the enslaved Matoran rebuild Metru Nui to serve as the centerpiece for Teridax's planned Empire of Makuta. The Toa Metru, having failed to stop Teridax, go into hiding with Turaga Lhikan. (Volume I)
   -The central region of the Southern Continent breaks off and shoots out of the Matoran Universe, ending up in the sea of Aqua Magna. The Matoran residing there later dub the newly-formed island Voya Nui. (Volume II)
   -The Shadowed One sets out with Sentrakh and Voporak to investigate the deaths of Nidhiki and Krekka and is met with Teridax's forces on Metru Nui. The Dark Hunter leader is forced to retreat, though he vows revenge. (Volume III)

   -Makuta Sakron arrives on Saevta in search of recruits. Realizing that the Order of Mata Nui has no chance against the growing Empire of Makuta, Shikaiju pledges her loyalty to the Makuta, serving as a double agent within the Order. However, shortly after, Sakron is executed at Teridax's orders without Shikaiju's knowledge and her reports go unheard. (Volume IV)
6 months AGC
   -The Toa Metru stage an attack against Makuta Teridax at the Coliseum. With the help of Krahka and the Rahi, they succeed in doing so and Teridax flees from Metru Nui to Destral. There, he is betrayed by Icarax and has his essence forced into a vat, while Icarax assumes command of the Brotherhood. Meanwhile, Turaga Lhikan leads Metru Nui into an age of recovery. (Volume I)
   -The reconstituted Hand of Artakha is discovered on Voya Nui. Upon returning, Mallake leads them off the lost island and sets up operations on the Tren Krom Peninsula. (Volume II)
7 months AGC
   -Upon discovering a map in the hands of a De-Matoran named Krakua, the Brotherhood of Makuta launch an invasion on the island of Artakha. The Hand of Artakha joins in the fight, but both are easily repelled by Artakha himself. With the help of Antroz, Teridax takes his throne back from Icarax and imprisons Mallake on Destral, while the remaining Hand members are taken by Botar to the Pit. (Volume III)
   -The Order of Mata Nui forms the Toa Tenebrae, led by Lesovikk and comprised of Toa who have either violated the Toa Code or done ill will, and sends them to capture Karzahni. They end up at Odina, where they end up being whisked away by Shikaiju. Concurrently, Toa Varian is freed from her stasis prison by the Dark Hunter Shadow Stealer, also known as Amath. (Volume III)
   -Turaga Dume sends the Toa Metru and the Rahaga on a quest to find the Toa of Light, with the Kanohi Avohkii as their guide. Consequently, Teridax sends the Shadow Hunter Umarak after them. After killing all but three of the Toa Metru, Umarak takes the Avohkii back to the Brotherhood of Makuta. (Volume IV)
   -The Toa Tenebrae, along with Varian and Trisuma, are brought to Okoto, where Amath and Shikaiju plan on using the three Toa of Psionics to open the stone gate. Before they can proceed, Botar arrives and attempts to intervene, only to be attacked by Shikaiju. Amath then convinces the Psionics Toa to open the gate. Afterwards, Botar retrieves the Toa Tenebrae and set them back on course before returning to Okoto, where he is killed by Makuta Teridax as he procures the Mask of Ultimate Power. (Volume IV)
