PROLOGUE
From the Journal of Kopeke the Chronicler
Entry 8581
Life on Spherus Magna is quite different than what I've been used to on Mata Nui and Metru Nui. Toa Tahu and the Turaga have been working hard with the Agori leaders to combine our two societies, but it isn't easy with the fear of the possibility that Makuta's remnant forces may strike back.
It is Toa Tahu's belief that the Great Beings- whom Mata Nui's last wishes were for us to find- will be able to unite us together. Thus, he has sent three Toa and a Glatorian to search for them. However, because of the untold dangers in the Great Jungle, Bota Magna, it is to anyone's guess if they will return alive.
Entry 8582
I'm growing worried. Tahu has sent Toa Kopaka and Pohatu to investigate the murder of Karzahni, and the Toa Hagah have set off to find the missing Toa Mahri.
I wish I could do something, but I'm not sure what. People keep telling me that I'm not made for taking extreme risk; that that's the job for a Toa, not a mere Matoran like myself.
I need advice. Perhaps from a former Chronicler....
Entry 8583
I have spoken with Toa Takanuva, who was once Chronicler before me. He agrees with me that something must be done. He has sent me to gather a group of beings who are willing to accompany me... a new "Chronicler's Company", of sorts.
There's one last thing I must write before going. As a Ko-Matoran- and after hearing about the Turaga's tales of Metru Nui- I have become fascinated with astronomy, studying the positions of the stars and planets. And in my studies, I have noticed something... odd. Something that has piqued my curiosity.
The Red Star- the ever-mysterious Red Star- is glowing brighter each day.
BIONICLE DESTINY
Volume I: A Fateful Search
CHAPTER ONE
"So, what do you say?"
Kopeke patiently awaited Macku's answer as the Ga-Matoran sent a Kolhii ball flying towards the blue-armored Agori she was playing with. It promptly slammed into his stomach, causing him to lurch forward, coughing.
"You're supposed to catch it with the scoop end of the stick, Kirbraz!" Macku called to him. "Not use your stomach as a shield!"
"This is a stupid game!" the Agori snapped, followed by a few coughs. "You didn't even give me a heads up!"
Macku rolled her eyes. "Whatever."
Turning to Kopeke, smiling as if nothing had happened, she said, "What do I say? I say you've got yourself a member!"
Kopeke smiled. "Great. I'm thinking about getting Tamaru and Taipu to join as well... you know, getting the old Chronicler's Company back together. However, I haven't seen Kapura and Hafu since we migrated here to Spherus Magna."
Macku's smile faded. "I've noticed that, too. So you say Toa Lewa, Kopaka, Pohatu are missing, the Toa Hagah are searching for the Toa Mahri, and now two of our friends are missing. Not only that, but I've heard rumors that a few others are absent as well."
Kopeke shook his head. "This isn't good-"
"That's an understatement," Macku interjected.
He gave her an annoyed look. "Anyway, I need to find two other Matoran to fill in for Kapura and Hafu for the time being."
"Or we could find some willing Agori," Macku said. She glanced at Kirbraz, who was just now recovering from the hit he had took. "What do you say?"
The Agori glared at her. "What do you think?"
Macku smirked. "What I thought."
Kopeke nodded. "Well, I'm off to Tesara to find Tamaru. If you could find some others who are willing to join, that would be great. After that, meet me and the others near Iconox."
"Sure thing," the Ga-Matoran said. "See you later."
* * *
Toa Orde carefully moved through the vast jungles of Bota Magna. Close behind him was the Ice Glatorian known as Gelu, Ice Slicer in hand. All around them, strange, foreboding creatures peered at them through the shadows, making them feel unsure if they would attack or not.
It had all seemed simple at first. Orde and two other Toa- Chiara and Zaria- were sent to find the Great Beings as Mata Nui had requested, with Gelu as their guide to this foreign world. However, upon arriving at Bota Magna, they were captured by a group of intelligent Vorox led by one named Kabrua. The Vorox, seeking justice for their rejected Bara Magna brethren, released the Toa and Glatorian into the wild so that they could hunt them. Orde and Gelu soon became separated from Chiara and Zaria and only recently had they evaded Kabrua and his Vorox.
Before doing so, however, Orde, being a Toa of Psionics, was able to probe Kabura's mind and discovered a disturbing revelation: one of the Great Beings, the ones whom Orde and the others sought, had transferred their consciousness into one of the bio-mechanical beings that had inhabited the Matoran Universe, and was now devising a plan for Spherus Magna. Orde was not able to find out who the Great Being was and what their exact intentions were, but he found out enough to know that they had to be stopped.
As long as they weren't too late.
"Any sign of them?" Gelu asked him, speaking in a low whisper.
"Who? Chiara and Zaria or the Vorox?"
"Whichever."
"Then no, to either of those." Orde scanned the surrounding jungle, searching for the other two Toa. Frowning, he turned back to Gelu. "You don't think the Vorox have... gotten to them, do you?"
"I don't know," Gelu said, shaking his head. "Can you try reaching out to them telepathically?"
"Let's find out." He closed his eyes and reached out with his Psionic powers, trying to find someone to communicate. At first, just as he figured would happen, he found nothing. However, just as he was about give up, he came across a stray thought, though it did not seem like one of Chiara or Zaria's.
...Frees me....
He broke off from the contact, shaking his head. Gelu looked at him quizzically. "What is it?" the Glatorian asked.
"There's someone else out here," Orde replied. "I think they're trapped or something, because they want to be free."
"Well, what's out top priority?" Gelu asked dryly. "Trying to find our comrades, who are needed for this mission, or finding this trapped person who might be trapped for a reason?"
"I've thought of a better priority."
The two warriors turned at the sound of the voice and saw Kabrua standing before them, accompanied by two Vorox, all with their blasters aimed at them.
"How about trying to escape with your lives?"
