Bionicle Destiny: Volume I, Chapter Six

CHAPTER SIX
The would-be murderer of Toa Helryx, Makuta Miserix, and the other beings in the Cursed Great Being's temple admired the memorial markers he had carved for the soon-to-be dead. Everything was ready for the grand finale.

However, just as he was about to set off the prepared explosives, the ground shook with a mighty tremor, nearly knocking him off of his feet. After regaining his balance, the murderer scowled. The Agori native to this region were on the hunt for food again with their restless giant steeds. He could not risk getting spotted by anyone or anything. He would have to make this quick....

Moving as far away as possible from the fortress, the soon-to-be killer of those within the structure prepared the signal....

Their defense, as weak as it was, was ready. With Hydraxon at the door, ready to open it, Toa Naho poised to flood the chamber when their adversaries entered, and Pohatu Nuva ready to blast open an escape, Kopaka began his countdown.

   "Five... four...."

Their pursuers had since ceased scraping at the door and were now trying to pry it open. It took all of Hydraxon's might to keep it shut.

   "Three... two...."

Mavrah and the other Matoran in the chamber looked on nervously, standing near Pohatu so that they would be the first ones out. The Turaga and others were standing not far behind them, and the Toa stood near Naho, ready to fight if necessary.

   "One."

Hydraxon immediately moved away from the door, letting it fly off its hinges and allowing the hideous beings enter. Naho raised her arms and unleashed a great jet of water, drowning as many of the crippled creatures as she could.

"Now, Pohatu!" Kopaka cried over the sound of rushing water.

The Toa Nuva of Stone fired his Skyblaster, creating a large opening in the metal wall. At his signal, the waiting Matoran and Turaga hurried out of the chamber. Once their enemies were practically knee-deep in water, Kopaka began to freeze it with his Ice powers. As it began to harden, he gestured for Naho, Hydraxon, and the others to follow their friends. Soon, their former pursuers were trapped in ice.

"Nice job, Pohatu said. "Now let's get out of here before they figure out a way to break free."

As Kopaka started to follow his fellow Toa Nuva, one of the beings, a vaguely bipedal one with bits of crimson armor hanging off of it, cried, "You will not... deny me... my destiny!"

Pohatu grinned at the undead being as he climbed through the hole. "Too late."

Kopaka did the same as the Toa of Stone, doing his best to ignore the agonized screams that followed them.

The ground quaked as Toa Bomonga, using his Mask of Growth, tackled with two Tahtorak beasts under the Skakdi's control. Norik had half the mind to tell the Toa of Stone to stop using his Seismic Spear, for it kept knocking him and the other Toa Hagah off-balance. But after seeing how efficient it was against the Rahi, and after seeing that the Skakdi couldn't stay on their feet either, he decided against it.

Of course, it only got worse when the ground beneath him exploded.

Norik flew through the air and landed hard on his back, prompting him to groan. He attempted to get back to his feet only to be pushed back down by an invisible force. It took all of his strength to crane his head up to see who had attacked him.

To his surprise, it was the Toa Mahri of Stone Hewkii, his Mask of Gravity glowing.

Norik opened his mouth to say something but was cut off when Hewkii raised his Aqua Warblade, charged with the Lightning powers of his Electrified Chain.

"Please," Norik said quietly. "Don't do this."

"You dare to fight your rightful masters," the Toa of Stone said in an unusual, monotonic voice. "You deserve what's coming to you."

Just as he was about to bring his blade down, another tremor shook the earth as one of the Tahtorak Bomonga was facing fell. Momentarily distracted, Hewkii lost concentration over his mask power and Norik took the opportunity to fire a Rhotuka spinner from his shield, sending the Toa Mahri of Stone a few steps back. He then jumped to his feet and unleashed a blast of lava from his spear, knocking Hewkii out cold.

At that moment, Iruini appeared next to Norik in a flash, startling him.

"How do you suppose we get out of this mess?" the Toa Hagah of Air asked.

"I don't know," Norik said. "The only thing closest thing to a plan that I can think of is to take down that golden being. However-"

   "Already on it."

   "No! Iruini, wait-!"

But it was too late; the Toa of Air had vanished again.

Norik cursed under his breath. I really hate it when he does that....
