Sorry I was late in sending this, Poe. Been caught up with family business on Corellia. You might have heard about it, but... ah, I won't dwell on it.
Originally I was gonna ask why you contacted me personally, since I'm sure Leia's already got most of this stuff on file. But then I figured you probably had a good reason for it. Maybe you wanted it straight from someone who's been there from the beginning. At least you went to me instead of someone like Wes....
Anyway, I'm not gonna bore you with too many details. A guy like you, you probably just want to hear about the gritty action details. Fortunately, that's pretty much what we were all about. Why else would you be asking about us, eh?
First off, you've probably already heard about Red Squadron. That's really where the Rogues had their beginning since Luke and I were the only survivors of that roster, and we built Rogue Squadron off of the Reds' legacy. I was still pretty new at the time of Yavin and I didn't think we'd even succeed. But we did. And look where we are now.

After Yavin, Commander Arhul Narra took Luke under his wing and restructured Red Squadron into Rogue Flight. It was Luke who suggested the name "Rogue"; after he had heard about Rogue One's sacrifice at Scarif just before the Battle of Yavin, he wanted to honor their memory because if it wasn't for them, we would have never been able to destroy the Death Star.
You know about Rogue One, right? If not, ask me to share it sometime. I was never there, but I know enough that you could make a feature-length holovid out of it.
Anyway, between Yavin and Hoth we had quite a few outings as Rogue Flight. But it wasn't until the Battle of Hoth that we were really tested for all we were worth. We didn't have quite as many casualties as at Yavin, but I'd be dishonest if I said it wasn't a challenge.

After Hoth, Luke departed for Dagobah and left me in charge of Rogue Flight, which I expanded into a full-fledged squadron. Our roster was ever-rotating during this period and even I don't remember the names of all the pilots who've flown with us (Ackbar or Cracken might know, if you ask them nicely). By the time of Endor, we had temporarily changed our name back to Red Squadron, in honor of Commander Dreis' unit. And yes, the rumors are (partially) true; I did have a hand in blowing up the second Death Star (though the rest was all General Calrissian).
I will make addendums to this log once I find names to fill in the blanks (or you can fill yourself if you ever get to talk with Ackbar or someone).

After Endor, the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic and Luke gave me full command of Rogue Squadron while he rebuilt the Jedi Order. Over the next two years, we traveled the galaxy dealing with Imperial warlords and wrestling command of Coruscant from Sate Pestage. We'd be here all day if I detailed all of these adventures so I'll just give you a brief run down.

After our loss at Ciutric IV, Rogue Squadron took something of a break; Wes and Hobbie started training new squadrons, Tycho took up missions for N.R.I., I went on publicity tours. It wasn't until the New Republic started making its push against Ysanne Isard that I was asked to bring the team back together.
