Star Wars Destiny Chronicles: Jedi Archives - The Lost Twenty

THE LOST TWENTY
Per the request of the Masters' Council, I have begun an extensive research into the group of Jedi Masters known as the Lost Twenty. As indicated by their name, these Masters left the Order between 5977 and 7945 C.R.C., and were considered "lost" as a result. Some of them inevitably fell to the dark side while others simply walked a different path.

The membership of some of these Jedi have been disputed over time, as it seemed like the Jedi Councils at the time would often disagree whether or not a Master had truly left the Order or were simply inactive members. I will update this document accordingly if further information is found.

    Anyway, without further ado:
Phanius
Jedi Master Phanius was the first of the Lost Twenty recorded to leave the Order, sometime around 5977 C.R.C. While the Umbaran was respected for his charisma and intellect, his self-centered, borderline solipsistic outlook on the Force polarized him in the eyes of the Jedi Council. His perception that he alone truly existed in particular earned him condemnation from the Council and he ended up leaving the Order to pursue his own path.

Inevitably, Phanius' journey led him to unlocking secrets of the dark side and the Sith Order. Seeing a chance to take revenge on the Jedi who had rejected him, Phanius united the scattered Sith clans -- which had been left in disarray following the collapse of the Sith Empire -- and declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith, taking on the name Darth Ruin. With his charismatic attitude, the former Jedi Master was able to bring over fifty other Jedi to his side, instigating the Fourth Great Schism.

With Darth Ruin at the helm, the resurgent Sith struck against the Jedi and the Republic, beginning what would become known as the Draggulch Period. However, it would not be long before Ruin's egotistical and individualistic outlook began to grate on his minions, whom he deemed as literally "nothing." Only three years into his reign, Darth Ruin was assassinated by his squire and former apprentice Eradicus, who took over the Sith Empire in his stead.
Radaki
Tolrus Rawn
Tolrus Rawn was the nineteenth Jedi Master to leave the Order, circa 7845 C.R.C. A Lethan Twi'lek from the planet Ryloth, Rawn left the Order out of protest of the Council's expulsion of Leor Hal, leader of the Potentium movement. Rawn attempted to seek out Hal and his followers and vanished into Wild Space, never to be heard from again.

While Master Rawn was declared dead, it has since been uncovered that Rawn had in fact landed on the remote world of Sed'tral, throne world of the Sith Lord Darth Vorath. After besting Vorath's bodyguard, Rawn was offered to be taught the ways of the Sith to which he eagerly accepted. He subsequently became the first Sith Lord of Vorath's new order and given the name "Darth Scythe."

As Darth Scythe, Rawn would help his master prepare for his eventual return to the known galaxy, recruiting acolytes and accumulating a wealth of Sith artifacts. He continued to serve as Vorath's right-hand when the Sith made their attack on the New Republic in 8002 C.R.C. and took control of the remaining forces after Vorath was vanquished. He was last encountered by Toah Jarsan and Master Plun Kil aboard the Glorian Empire's Star Forge in 8014 C.R.C., and was summarily killed by Master Kil.
Dooku
Count Dooku of Serenno was the twentieth and therefore last recorded member of the Lost Twenty, seceding from the Order in 7945 C.R.C. Descended from the distinguished House Serenno, Dooku was taken in by the Jedi Order after being abandoned by his father. Trained by Grand Master Yoda himself, the ambitious Dooku would become disillusioned with the Republic and was highly critical of the Jedi Council's decisions and actions.

Although he would take several sabbaticals from the Jedi Order, it would not be until the death of his former apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn that Dooku officially turned his back on the Order. Returning to his homeworld, he reclaimed his birthright as Count of Serenno from his brother and even renamed the dynasty after himself. Not long after, Dooku was approached by Darth Sidious, master of the Sith Lord who had murdered Qui-Gon. As he held the Jedi to be more accountable for his former student's death, Dooku pledged himself to Sidious' teachings and took on the name Darth Tyranus.

As Tyranus, Count Dooku would help his new master orchestrate the Separatist Crisis and the subsequent Clone Wars. However, Dooku was ultimately nothing more than a pawn in Sidious' eyes and was subsequently executed at his master's command to accelerate the fall of his next prospective protege Anakin Skywalker.
