The Transformers: Redux, Issue 20: Decepticons Rising, Chapter Eight

     Date: 6/27/2012

DEVASTATION, PART I

    CAPTION: Cybertron

ULTRA MAGNUS: So, your mission to Kaon was not successful?

NIGHTBEAT: No, sir. I still have no leads on the spy...

ULTRA MAGNUS: That is unfortunate. I'll have Cybertron Intel double their efforts. In the meantime, stand by in case I need your assistance again.

    NIGHTBEAT: Understand, sir. Nightbeat out.

    COMPUTER: Magnus.

ULTRA MAGNUS: What is it, computer?

COMPUTER: Decepticon forces spotted near Iacon.

ULTRA MAGNUS: What?! Show a visual! (It does and it's no good) Gigatron.... Autobots, defensive positions! We have a situation here!

JETFIRE: We're on it, Magnus. Everyone, gear up!

ULTRA MAGNUS: Silverbolt, are the Aerialbots ready?

    SILVERBOLT: Affirmative, Magnus.

    ULTRA MAGNUS: Kup?

    KUP: Team Magnus is ready!

ULTRA MAGNUS: All right. Autobots... ROLL OUT!

    CAPTION: Earth

OPTIMUS PRIME: Autobots... I have a plan. I don't believe there is any other way to free Wheeljack, than to reactive our ship the Orion.

    RATCHET: Optimus... we can't.

    OPTIMUS PRIME: Why not?

RATCHET: Remember what I told you before we left Cybertron?

    OPTIMUS PRIME: I know, but--

RATCHET: Please... there must be another way.

OPTIMUS PRIME: Ratchet, I... I don't think there is.

    CAPTION: Years ago...

    SOLDIER: Sir?

    ORION PAX: Yes, soldier?

SOLDIER: The Elite Guard just sent an investigation report. They believe that Sentinel Prime... is dead.

    ALPHA TRION: Dead, you say?

ORION PAX: That's what they reported. I... I don't understand, mentor. The prophecies said that--

ALPHA TRION: That "a leader would live to see our salvation?" And just how is it supposed to specifically mean Sentinel?

ORION PAX: But... the prophecies mentioned seven Primes and... Sentinel was the seventh!

ALPHA TRION: While that may be true... how do we know the prophecies are as well? It is entirely possible that Sentinel is not the last Prime. The High Council is still debating on picking a new leader.

ORION PAX: And if Sentinel is the last...?

ALPHA TRION: Then we let the future take its course...

ORION PAX: Thank you, Alpha Trion, for your time.

ALPHA TRION: No, Orion Pax... thank you... for having hope.

    CAPTION: Present

GIGATRON: Ultra Magnus, I come to you with an offer. If you surrender your forces now... then I will recall the spy in your ranks.

ULTRA MAGNUS: And if we don't?

GIGATRON: Then you shall all be destroyed.

ULTRA MAGNUS: Surrender is not an option for us!

GIGATRON: I thought you might say that... which is why I brought my army. Decepticons, attack!

(All hell breaks loose. Straxus observes from a monitor.)

STRAXUS: Cowards die many times before their deaths... the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I yet have heard... it seems to me strange that men should fear. Seeing that death, a necessary end... will come when it will come.

FLATLINE: Er... my lord, what shall we do with Shockblast?

STRAXUS: Keep him restrained for now. Then, when we need heavy fire support... we uncage the beast!

    CAPTION: Earth

    OPTIMUS PRIME: See anything, Ratchet?

RATCHET: Not yet, Optimus. Whatever they have planned though... should be here any minute.

OPTIMUS PRIME: I still think we should reactivate the Orion.

RATCHET: Prime, we can't! It'd be too dangerous, for both us... and him.

OPTIMUS PRIME: Fine... but if it's our only hope--

    RATCHET: I understand.

BUMBLEBEE: Hey, guys...? Look who's here!

SCRAPPER: Autobots! We come to you with a request from Lord Megatron!

OPTIMUS PRIME: You can forget about requests, Scrapper! We are not surrendering!

SCRAPPER: Ah, but we are not asking you to surrender, Optimus Prime... we are asking for your ship.

BUMBLEBEE: You've gotta be kidding me.

OPTIMUS PRIME: And just what is it that you want with our ship?

SCRAPPER: We simply wish to see if it is functional.

    (Beat)

IRONHIDE: That's the worst excuse I've ever heard.

SCRAPPER: ...I suppose being subtle is out of the question.

    (The Constructicons transform and combine)

    DEVASTATOR: AUTOBOTS... PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION!

    CAPTION: Cybertron

KUP: Blurr! Let's see some sniper action here!

BLURR: Way ahead of ya'... (He takes aim) That's right. Stand still you Decepticree--eeeaaahhhh!

DIRGE: Goodbye, Autobot. (He gets shot in the back) AK!

JAZZ: Blurr, get out of here!

GIGATRON: Hm. It seems your Autobots are overwhelmed. Just watch, Magnus. They're fleeing for their lives, even though it is futile. They are being torn apart, one by one, limb by limb. Just watch, Magnus... and see just how "great" your Autobots are. So now I ask you again... will you surrender? Or will you insist on fighting for a lost cause? Tell me, Magnus... what will it be?

(We close on Straxus watching this exchange, holding a device in his hands, ready to press it....)

Transformers Regenerated Multiverse: The Fanon AllSpark Almanac

AUTOBOTS

Clipper

Clipper is not a femme you should underestimate. A lot of 'bots overlook her because she's the secretary to Governor Riker, but they don't know that she fought bolts and nails to get to that position. She and I have crossed paths on more than one occasion given our respective positions, and let me tell you she knows how to get her way and get it quick. I'm not much for gossip, but there are some rumors that she's the one who calls the shots at Riker's office and I wouldn't go so far as to count that possibility out entirely. People say she's got her eyes on a seat (or something close to it) on the High Council; AllSpark preserve the Magnus whenever that happens. - Chromia

Groove

I don't trust Groove. He means well, don't get me wrong. But he's one of those "free spirit" 'bots who's a little bit too free, if you ask me. His easy-going nature has gotten him into trouble in the past, and he's nearly gotten himself sent to the Stockade more than once. Out of all of us Protectobots, he's the one whose membership I question the most. Hopefully our Magnus knows what he's doing by putting us all together. - Rook

Hoist

Hoist is a 'bot you always want to have around, especially if you don't have a medical officer on hand. He's more than happy to fix you up if you need a quick routine checkup or some maintenance work done. I don't think I've ever met a more cheerful 'bot in my life. He's probably one of the few Elite Guard bots who hasn't let the fame get to his head. And hey, he's earned his spot! Lately there's been some rumblings that a bot in some of Sentinel Prime-- er, Sentinel Magnus' political videos is supposed to be Hoist, but... c'mon. I hear the bot's got dreams of performing on the stage, but they have completely different body-types. I swear, the things you hear at the Old Oil House.... - Swerve

Hosehead

HOSEHEAD IS A VERY NICE BOT! HE IS ALWAYS APOLOGIZING FOR THINGS EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT HIS FAULT! HE IS QUITE BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS, BUT SOMETIMES GETS FLUSTERED WHEN UNDER PRESSURE! HE IS EQUIPPED WITH VERY EFFICIENT FIRE RETARDANT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN, "KEEP IT DOWN?" - Siren

Hot Spot

Hot Spot is the leader of us Protectobots and the most experienced of us. He fought in the Great War and took part in the Battle of Iacon, where he lost his Omega Sentinel. Some people say his crew had to drag him off the ship before it exploded. He's spent most of his years in retirement since then, so it was a surprise to pretty much everyone when Sentinel Magnus recommissioned him to serve as the leader of his Protectobot guard. Between you and me, I personally feel he isn't mentally suited for command. Combine his trauma with his selfless need to charge into battle... I fear that is going to be the death of him. - First Aid

Lifeline

Ah, Lifeline. That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. We served together during the war, rushing out onto the field to repair fallen Autobots in the middle of combat. She has always detested war and was something of a pacifist, although she knew how to fight when push came to shove. She was a very vocal opponent of the Magnus and fiercely condemned Project: Omega, which we had a bit of a falling out over due to my... involvement. After the war, she retired to Paradron, and we've been able to patch things up since then. I haven't heard from her since arriving on Earth. Maybe it's time to change that...  - Ratchet

Siren

Siren's a great guy, don't get me wrong. It's just that he's, well... kind of loud. Very loud. Sorry, someone had to say it. To be fair, it's not something that's easy for him to control. I'm sure if I grew up in the Sonic Canyons, I would have my voice modulator permanently set on a high volume by default. Arcee's been trying to get him to mind his surroundings whenever he's speak, and to his credit he's been doing his best. You can't fault him for that. He gets along pretty well with Nightbeat and is always the first to tag along with her in her investigations. He's usually the one to provide the most reasonable explanation while Nightbeat does her big brain module thinking. - Hosehead

Sunstreaker

Sunstreaker and I go way back, all the way to our days in boot camp. Even back then she was a bit full of herself, although she's mellowed out in the years since. She got her name 'cos she polished her armor so much the sun gleamed off her and nearly shorted out our drill sergeant's optical sensors. We were both pretty young and stupid during those days and would pull pranks on our fellow cadets. During the war, we applied our pranking skills to Decepticon fighting and developed the "Jet Judo" maneuver. Sunstreaker likes to take credit for that one, although I'm pretty sure I came up with the name. These days, Sunstreaker's been living life as a socialite, frequenting the same gossiping circles as 'bots like Tracks. I still message her every now and then, just to see how life's been treating her. - Sideswipe

DECEPTICONS

Cop-Tur

No one really knows where Cop-Tur came from. He just kind of... showed up. Same deal as Crasher. In fact, those two were always hanging around each other and asking others about Cy-Kill for some reason. Strange. Anyway, Cop-Tur wasn't exactly the brightest sort, but he made up for it in sheer strength, making him an ideal member of the Decepticon Heavy Brigade. No one's seen him since the Great War, and many've just assumed he died with the rest of 'em. I can certainly tell you that no one's been missing him. - Spittor

Lyzack

Rumor has it that the Autobots have begun developing their own flying soldiers. It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic. Still, reports of these two Autobot twins being able to form this combiner known as "Safeguard" have a few of us warlords concerned, myself included. As such, I have dedicated the resources and research necessary to create a Decepticon combiner of our own. The twins Lyzack and Leozack have volunteered for this operation, and Drillhorn has already come up with schematics for a gestalt that has been given the designation "Liokaiser." Soon, the Autobots will learn that the Decepticons will always maintain superiority in the skies!  - Deathsaurus

Rampage

Rampage is the embodiment of the Autobots and their foolhardiness. During the Great War, prior to creating Project Omega, they attempted to counter the Decepticon Heavy Brigade by forcing a protoform into the Heavy Brigade body-type. However, the resulting creation was a violent monster that went on a rampage through Iacon, halted only by the efforts of Depth Charge and his team. To cover up their failure, the Autobots fabricated a backstory for Protoform X, labeling him an escaped Decepticon named Rampage, and interred him in Trypticon Prison's most secure cell. Many times have I been tempted to release him in order to expose the Autobots as the fools they are, but Lord Megatron insists that he remain where he is, as the destruction he could bring would be a detriment to even the Decepticons. - Shockwave

Runabout & Runamuck

Oh, these two losers. There is nothing to say about Runabout and Runamuck. Or is it Runamuck and Runabout? Beats me. They are little more than two street thugs that signed up for the Decepticons because they thought it would get them somewhere in life, when really they're nothing more than cannon fodder. They are prone to pointless bantering and laughing at their own crude jokes. You won't see me shedding a tear when these two inevitably get themselves scrapped. In fact, I might even crack a smile. - Starscream

Slicer

Magnificus was not ze only result of Operation: Doppelganger. When Shockwave retrieved the CNA of Perceptor, he also acquired samples of his partner Wheeljack. Slicer was created from these samples as a test run for the project. Unfortunately, he was not as much of a success as Magnificus; while a capable fighter, Slicer iz extremely single-minded and can only focus on one thing: destroying whatever is in front of him, whether it be Autobot or Decepticon. He ultimately became too much of a nuisance that he was sent to Ijarn with Magnificus to serve as his bodyguard. Hopefully Magnificus can get him to focus his processor and control his quick temper. - Scalpel

MIRROR AUTOBOTS

MIRROR DECEPTICONS

Mirror Soundwave

Ugh, so lame. Soundwave was a robot that Dad made for me to bash around with, until that goody-two shoe Megatron got his hands on him. Now Soundwave's all about making people happy and sweet and stuff. What a loser. To make matters worse, he worked with those H.Y.B.R.I.D. nobodies and tried to turn Optimus and his 'bots good with some sort of VR world. Thankfully Bulkhead smashed him to pieces, so I don't have to listen to his poser music anymore. Good riddance. - Mirror Universe Sari

Transformers Regenerated Profiles: The Crusadercons

Will be updated periodically.

 THE CRUSADERCONS

Team Rodimus

Rodimus is the captain of the Lost Light. Formerly known as Hot Rod, he has aspirations of one day becoming a great Autobot hero (hence his name change) and is determined to find the Knights of Cybertron to bring his planet into a true Golden Age. Unfortunately, he is rather impulsive and thus gets distracted with various side-quests, though these generally involve helping organics and fellow mechanoids, so his crewmates can't complain too much.

    Blades

Blaster likes to make things loud, and others like to listen to him. A reporter before the war, Blaster used his talents to raise morale among his fellow Autobots, lifting their spirits in the never-ending fight against the Decepticons. He now serves as chief of communications aboard the Lost Light, keeping everyone connected to Cybertron and surveilling signals in search of anyone who could be in need.

Bluestreak hides his pain with words. A survivor of the Praxus Massacre of 8817, he enlisted with the Autobots after trying to stay neutral and made it his life-long mission to see the Decepticons destroyed. One of the last Autobots to be reawakened on Earth in time for the Unicron War, he decided to stay behind on Earth for a few months in order to learn the local culture, becoming fascinated with the planet and how much it reminded him of Praxus. Not happy with the truce with the Decepticons, he decided to join the Lost Light and bonded with Swerve over non-Cybertronian culture, trying everything he can to ignore the survivor's guilt he has been burdened with for the last millennium.

Huffer used to be upbeat and happy back on Cybertron. He was so passionate about his home world that he was practically the only one who genuinely enjoyed his job of cleaning out the planet's pipe systems, since it meant he was contributing towards making Cybertron a functioning world. His cheery demeanor instantly evaporated when he awakened on Earth with the rest of the Ark crew and he became a dour pessimist, longing to return home. When he finally did return to Cybertron, he still could not shake off his homesickness, feeling that the Cybertron that had been restored was not the same as the one he had left. So when Rodimus called for a quest for Cyberutopia, Huffer decided to sign up, hoping that somewhere out there was the beautiful world he remembered from so long ago.

    Hyperion

    Inferno

    Jackpot

    Kindle

    Lancet

Landmine has been around for a long time and is no less hard-working for all his age. A loadbearer, he is able to wear large amounts of armor and is often seen working in the cargo hold to move around heavy objects. Rumor has it that he had once trained Optronix, the Autobot who would later become the Decepticon leader Megatron, but he refuses to say a word about this.

    Lockstock

    Mainframe

    Perceptor

    Pincher

Pipes is always looking for an adventure, even if he doesn't have the best of luck. Back on Cybertron, he had a fascination with little trinkets that would be tossed aside by others and he became something of a pack-rat with his collection of "junk." His biggest regret was not joining the crew of the Ark and he aimed to correct that mistake by joining the quest for the Knights of Cybertron. For him, it isn't so much the destination as it is the journey... plus the "treasure" he finds along the way.

Slapdash is all over the place. Disorganized and forgetful, he is not good at keeping up with his teammates and always falls behind. He also has a bad habit of forgetting his weapon and always needs his fellow Autobots providing him with cover fire, something which forever frustrated them. With the war over, others have lightened up around him but still find him to be irritatingly neglectful. Lately, he has taken an interest in some Earth media that Bluestreak and Swerve have introduced to him; in particular, he has become invested in a show called "Miami Metal-Clamp" or something like that.

    Smokescreen

    Spoke

    Sprocket

    Steeljaw

    Stormshot

Strafe is a bit high-strung. Make that very high-strung. He thinks that a Decepticon is waiting behind every corner and he almost always has his gun drawn ready to blast them apart as soon as he lays his sights on them. His fellow Autobots can only hope that he will take the second it takes to register their insignia. A member of the Technobots, Strafe had joined the crew of the Lost Light at the suggestion of Scattershot hoping that it would calm his nerves, although the results so far are negligible at best. Whose bright idea it was to make him part of the ship's security detail is anyone's guess.
