Star Wars Destiny: Episode I, Chapter One

Star Wars Destiny is a fan-made story I started in 2011. And I am now going to post the chapters here on my blog. That's right, not summaries like my Transformers comics! I'm giving you all of the details!
Please note that Star Wars belongs to George Lucas, not me. Obviously.

EDITED 2/25/2017 I'm kind of in the process of rewriting certain aspects of this oooold story. Right now, I'm replacing all mentions of Coruscant with Chandrila, as in my revised timeline, the New Republic have yet to relocate to Coruscant (they will by 10 ABY, when Volume II starts).
STAR WARS DESTINY
EPISODE I: THE NEW REPUBLIC
It has been one year since the death of Emperor Palpatine and the fall of his Galactic Empire. The Rebel Alliance has established the New Republic to ensure peace throughout the galaxy. However, in the deepest realms of space, the remnants of the Empire are waiting for the right moment to strike...
CHAPTER ONE
-Korriban system-
Footsteps echoes throughout the corridors of the Vengeance as Grand Moff Nihan headed for the Imperial Star Destroyer's bridge. Despite the deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader, the Empire still held strong, albeit weakly. Command of the Imperial Army had been taken by Grand Admiral Thrawn, while other powerful Imperials held control of various systems and sectors.

Nihan was one of these Imperials. During Palpatine's reign, Nihan was given control over the Esstran sector, which included the ancient world of Korriban. Nihan sometimes wondered why the Emperor would give control over such a desolate and dangerous world, though it no longer mattered now.

Nihan walked onto the Vengeance's bridge, where the young captain Kirus and the older, bearded admiral Argen were waiting.

"Ah, Moff Nihan," Argen said. "You have a message from Grand Admiral Thrawn."

Nihan rose an eyebrow. "Thrawn?" he asked. "What does he want from me?"

"I do not know, sir," Argen replied. "He said it was for your eyes only."

Nihan sighed. "Very well. Have the message ready in my quarters."

Heading though the corridors which he had came from, Nihan at last reached his quarters, and was surprised to see the blue, shimmering holographic image of Thrawn inside. The Chiss Grand Admiral turned to face him.

"Ah, Nihan," he said. "I'm glad you didn't ignore my call like Korus and Kan-Rann."

"What is it that you want, Grand Admiral?" Nihan asked.

Thrawn's eyes focused coldly on Nihan. "You have control over most of the planets in the Esstran sector, including Korriban, am I correct?"

Nihan nodded. "Yes, sir. Including Korriban."

Thrawn smirked. "Excellent. I need you to deploy nine stormtrooper squads to defend a tomb on Korriban. Inquisitor Jerec will lead you to the tomb. Is that understood?"

"Indeed, sir," Nihan replied, nodding. "It will be done."
-Chandrila-
"Not the last of the old, Luke. The first of the new."

Those had been Obi-Wan Kenobi's last words to Luke Skywalker before wordlessly heading into the netherworld of the Force, unlikely to return. Since then, Luke had been wondering how in the galaxy was he going to rebuild the Jedi Order without guidance. The only person he knew that was powerful in the Force was his sister, Leia Organa Solo. However, she was currently busy in helping the new Galactic Republic govern the galaxy.

Luke had attempted contacting the spirits of Jedi Master Yoda and his father, Anakin Skywalker, but to no avail. Now knowing that he was alone in this, Luke decided that the only way was to explore planets that he had learned were connected to the old Jedi Order. Remembering that Obi-Wan had mentioned Dantooine to be such a world-shortly before his last talk with Luke-the young Jedi Knight decided to start there.

As he donned his orange flight suit, Luke felt an uneasy feeling, but only for a brief moment. He headed for the Republic Command Base's hangar, where his X-wing starfighter was docked. Awaiting him was his blue-and-white astromech droid, R2-D2.

"How's it going there?" Luke asked. The astromech responded with an excited whir as he raised himself into the X-wing's external socket. Luke chuckled as he put on his helmet and climbed into the cockpit. Soon, the starfighter was raising off the deck and flying out of the hangar on a set course for the Dantooine system.
-Dantooine-
Despite the similar sounding names, Dantooine looked nothing like Tatooine, much to Luke's relief. Flora dominated the planet's surface instead of scorching sands, farms that planted crops instead of moisture, and, best of all, no slimy Hutts, scavenging Jawas, or bloodthirsty Sand People. Luke knew he was going to like it here.

His X-wing fighter slowly landed into a spaceport. Once it had touched down, he climbed out of the starfighter and removed his helmet. At that moment, a trio of youths came running up to him, startling the young Jedi.

"Are you Luke Skywalker?!" a Nautolan boy asked excitedly.

Luke looked quizzically at the Nautolan and his peers. "Uh...yes..."

"Wow..." a Twi'lek youth murmured in amazement. "You are the greatest pilot ever! You killed the Emperor and Darth Vader!"

"I didn't kill-" Luke sighed. Finally, he said, "I appreciate your admiration, but, er, if you don't mind, I need to find something here on Dantooine."

"No problem," the Nautolan said. "Hey, can we help you? I don't think we've seen you here on Dantooine before, so maybe one of us could..?"

Luke shook his head. "Thanks, but no thanks. I've been to Dantooine before."

"All right," the Twi'lek said. "But if you need help, just call us!"

Luke smiled. 'Don't worry. Come on, Artoo!"

R2-D2 lowered from his socket and followed Luke. As they left the spaceport, Luke too one last glance at the three youths, can't help but feeling he felt the Force was radiating from one of them. But that feeling quickly vanished. Shrugging it off, Luke went into a changing room to switch to his Jedi apparel, and soon he and R2 were heading to find a lost Jedi enclave...
*   *   *
A dark robed figure watched the Jedi Knight from an abandoned building, scarlet eyes glowering from beneath the rim of their hood. Turning to an unseen being in the corner of the room, the figure spoke.

"It is time, Lord Nemesis."

The other being scowled. "It was time ever since Palpatine's death. Do we strike at Skywalker now?"

"Not yet," the first being said. "Instead, I have a task for you. One I'm sure you won't fail..."
