Prophecy of the Ancients II: Realm of the Demon Lords

 Truly, my 13 year old self was the penman of his generation.

REALM OF THE DEMON LORDS
---
PROLOGUE
    The Supreme Lord Onimi sat on his throne, tapping his long-nailed fingers on his chair arm. He was waiting for someone... or something, he wasn't sure. His bodyguard Retinax approached him.

    "My lord, the others are ready."

    "Excellent," Onimi muttered. "Let us begin."

CHAPTER ONE
Underground Thustra
    Jason and the others touched ground at last. They had been climbing for about half an hour until at last they had found a place to stop.

    "Geez!" Ethan exclaimed. "That dude made one deep hole!"

    "I think it might've gone this way," Jason said, glancing at a large tunnel in one of the walls.

    "All right then," Dion said. "Let's go."

    The journey through the tunnel took even longer.

    "This is pointless!" Drake complained. "That thing might be still going through here!"

    "If you want to leave and climb a half-hour to the surface, be my guest," Dion muttered.

    Drake didn't respond and continued walking.

    At last, the group saw light up ahead. They walked faster towards the source. Finally, they reached a village similar to the one on Thustra's surface. The lights were coming from strange looking stones with a dim glow to them. Soon, an elderly being approached them, followed by four guards.

    "Who are you?" the elder demanded. "What do you want?"

    "Calm down," Dion said. "I am Commander Dion of the Earth Alliance. We are tracking down a giant beast of some sort down here."

    "Well, nothing has come through here," the elder said. "Now turn back to where you came from!"

    "We can't. We have to find this creature."

    The elder grumbled. "Fine! Do whatever you want! Just don't bother us!"

    With that, the elder and the guards left.
Surface
    Minutes ago, the throne room of King Alaric's castle was silent, with Alaric's son and heir Homizz standing over the king's dead body. The messenger stood in shock. Soon, others in the castle received the news: Homizz was the new King of Thustra.

    Homizz was alone in his dark room, looking down on an orb. He had had this orb since he was nine years old, not knowing what it could do. Here, he was King and still did not know. Homizz decided to ignore it and headed to his coronation.
*  *  *
    A giant beast perched on a rock ledge and looked upon a sleeping army; his army, from many millennia ago. Soon, it would be time to awaken the army.

    But now, the beast had to arrange plans and bring back his apprentice.

CHAPTER TWO
    It seemed that the elder was right, Jason thought. The beast couldn't have gone though here as there were no tunnels large enough for the creature to fit through. The group headed for a large, dome-shaped hut to speak with the elder.

    The elder sat in front of a small lit fire. The four guards stood against the walls on either side. Dion approached the elder.

    "Excuse me, but is there any other way we can leave, besides the way we came?"

    The elder sighed. "Yes. There is a tunnel on the opposite side from the tunnel you came from." He lowered his head. "In that tunnel lies the realms of the Demon Lords. They are ruled by the Supreme Lord Onimi."

    The elder's voice started to tremble. "When I was younger -- when I was known as a hero -- I attempted to face Onimi. But I returned defeated."

    There was silence, until the elder said, "Go. Face the Demon Lords if you wish. But you won't succeed."

    The group left, but Jason lingered behind.

    "Uh, sir?" Jason started. "I didn't catch your name."

    "I have no name," the elder said. "I'm a failure."
*  *  *
    Dion and his group took the tunnel the elder had directed them to. As the group journeyed further and further, the tunnel became darker and darker. Suddenly, a vision struck Jason, stopping him in his tracks.

    It took place in a dimly lit lair, though it was different from the Imperious' lair. A dark cloaked being sat on his throne, his pupil-less green eyes glowing. Before him stood a hideous being with two red wing, skull-like shoulder pads, and four horns; two sticking out from the side of its head and two sticking upwards.

    When the latter being spoke, a booming yet raspy voice came out. "My lord, the others are growing tired. When will the Master come?"

    "Soon, Triskull, soon," the green-eyed being replied. "The Imperious says Zen-Aku has just brought him back and is heading here now."

    "What shall we do in the meantime?" Triskull asked.

    "We have visitors coming. Take care of them."

    "Jason!" Ethan shouted.

    Jason woke from the vision. "What?" he asked.

    "Seems like your mind trailed off," Dion said. "Are you okay?"

    "Yeah," Jason replied. "I'm fine."

    The others didn't look convinced but they didn't say anything and continued on.
*  *  *
   The creature soared lowly across the tunnel ground. At last it reached the Demon Lord realms. It flew to the capital, Ankoria, where the Supreme Lord's fortress stood, surrounded by a moat filled with lava.

    The creature perched on top of a defense tower. It folded up its wings. The beast gave a low growl, like a chuckle.

    It was time to talk.
*  *  *
    Dion and the gang decided to stop walking and relax. Jason sat down, away from the others. What did the vision mean, he asked himself. Who was Triskull? Who was the green-eyed being? And better yet: Why was he always getting these visions?

    The answers for all of those would have to wait, because a Hidiac was standing right in front of him.
---
CHAPTER THREE
    The Hidiac had its blade aimed at Jason's throat. Jason tried to call for help, but the Hidiac moved its blade closer. Luckily, Jason didn't need to call, as Usus came up and kicked the Hidiac in the ribs. The zombie-like beast's scream woke up the others. Usus took out his sword and killed the Hidiac.

    As the zombie collapsed to the ground, a low chuckle echoed throughout the cave.

    "My, I'm quite impressed," a voice said. "And I thought my ambushes were well-planned out."

    "Show yourself!" Leo demanded.

    "Tsk. Very well," the voice said. With that, a black-cloaked and blue-armored, masked being came forward.

    "Who are you?" Dion asked, aiming his blaster at the being.

    "I am Sharik," the being said. "One of the Imperious' greatest strategists."

    Soon, more Hidiacs appeared behind Sharik.

    "How did you get here?" Dion asked.

    "My master granted me teleportation powers. How I found you is a better question."

    "How did you find us then?"

    "Well, this wonderful person named Senfusa was kind enough to tell me."

    "Wait... is Senfusa the elder from the village?" Jason guessed.

    Sharik chuckled. "Why, indeed, boy."

    "We don't have time for this," Dion whispered to Jason. "On the count of three. One... two...."

    "What did you say--" Sharik started.

    "Three!" The group made a run for it.
*  *  *
     The group arrived at a dark, volcanic place.

    "I... think we've... lost him," Ethan panted. He looked up to see a small fortress over them. "Uh-oh," he muttered.

    The gang approached the castle's gates, where two guards stood. The guards crossed their staffs, blocking the gate.

    "You have no permission here nor on the Fire Lord's property. Leave now." Just as the guard said that, Sharik appeared, with twelve Hidiacs.

    The guards' eyes widened. "Sharik?" one guard stuttered.

    "Excuse me, my friends," Sharik said. "The deaths of these 'heroes' shall be quite gruesome."

    "Not if I can help it," Dion said as he shot Sharik in the shoulder.

    The guards charged towards Dion but were struck down by Usus. The Hidiacs screamed and lunged at the heroes, but were swiftly taken out by Dion. Suddenly, the gate opened.

    "You have proven yourselves worthy," a booming voice said. "You may enter."
*  *  *
    The creature came to ground level, right in front of Onimi.

    "Is it time?" Onimi asked.

    "No," the winged beast growled. "Not yet. First, we must bring back my apprentice."

    "Soon, my lord," Onimi said. "We must handle the heroes first."

    The creature's eyes narrowed. "The insects are no threat to us. They will not intervene."

    "Yet it was an 'insect' that killed your apprentice."

    Smoke puffed out of the creature's nose. "Fine. We'll deal with the insects. But make it quick."

    "As you wish, my lord."
