Star Wars Shadows of the Sith: Episode I, Prologue

Yes, this is a continuation of Legacy of the Knights, taking place twenty years after the Glorian War's end. I plan on it being the final installment of the Destiny universe (chronology wise).

As with Legacy of the Knights and its predecessor, Destiny, Shadows of the Sith takes place in an alternate universe post-Return of the Jedi. Star Wars and its characters belongs to Lucasfilm/Disney, except for my characters, etc. etc.

   Enough talk! Let's do this!
STAR WARS: SHADOWS OF THE SITH
EPISODE I
THE GRAY JEDI
PROLOGUE
"What does the name Benor Sardan mean to you?"

Restrained to a chair in a dimly-lit room, Jedi Master Jomesh looked up at his Sakiyan interrogator, who had an electrical prodding rod in hand. Keeping calm and serene, the Mon Calamari answered.

   "He is a Jedi Knight."

The Sakiyan raised a hairless eyebrow. "And?" he prompted.

   "And he is a human."

This elicited a chuckle from one of the two Whiphids who stood to either side of the captive Jedi. The Sakiyan scowled at the furry brute and then at Jomesh.

   "I don't have time for games, fish-head."

"Neither do I," Jomesh said. "I am late for a meeting. Also, I take offense to you calling me 'fish-head'. Would you like it if I called you 'Shiny Scalp?'"

This time, both of the Whiphids burst out laughing. A mild burn from the Sakiyan's prod silenced them.

"Look, Jedi, it would be a great pleasure of mine to rip off those little dangling things on you chin. Now tell me, where is Benor Sardan?"

"They're called barbels," Jomesh said. "And he's right behind you."

Before the Sakiyan could react, a cloaked figure emerged from the shadows behind him and hit the alien's hairless scalp with a blunt object, knocking him out cold. One of the two Whiphids aimed their blaster rifle at the Jedi Knight, but was suddenly shot at by his partner. The furry alien then passed out from his wounds.

As the other Whiphid began to undo Jomesh's restraints, the Jedi Master eyed him and Benor Sardan curiously.

"You keep some interesting company, I see," he said to the latter.

"When one gets a dozen bounties posted on their head every day, one requires strong muscle here and there." Benor Sardan folded his arms across his chest. "So, what brings you all the way to a backwater worlds like Nilash Three?"

"Information," Jomesh said. "I've heard rumors of Black Sun activity in this sector."

"There have been rumors about them for twenty years," Sardan said. "Why only now has it attracted anyone's attention?"

"There's been more to it," Jomesh replied, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Some say that the Sith have been dealing with them."

Sardan blinked. The name of the Jedi's ancient enemy had not been spoken in such a grave manner in more than thirty years, after the Dark Lord Darth Vorath fell.

"Sith, you say," Sardan murmured. "As in here on Nilash?"

"Or at least somewhere in the Grumani sector. It was dominated by the Sith quite heavily during the Old Republic's Dark Age."

"I'll look into it," the Jedi Knight said. "Now, was there something else? Don't tell me you came all the way here from Ossus just to tell me about a wild rumor."

The Mon Calamari sighed. "I'm also here with a warning: they're after you. Black Sun, the Hutts...."

Sardan nodded at the unconscious Sakiyan. "Think I don't know that?"

"Nothing will deter them, Ben. If the information you carried were to fall into the wrong hands...."

"I know," Sardan said. "It would mean endgame."
