RISE AND FALL, PART 2
(Continues where we left off last issue, with Optimus Prime facing off against Atha Prime, who is greatly overpowering him. Optimus narrates.)
Optimus Prime: I... cannot beat him. The mask... makes him stronger. But I can't give up. I won't.
Atha Prime: You are so weak. You do not realize my unlimited power!
(Optimus lunges at him) Optimus Prime: Yargh!
(Atha pushes hims away with telekinesis) Optimus Prime: Oof!
(Meanwhile, the Autobots are continuing their fight with the Destrons and Decepticons)
Ultra Magnus: Keep it up! They're staring to fall back!
??? (over communicator): Sunstorm, is it ready?
Sunstorm: Almost....
(He places a power source into the super-weapon laser-cannon doomsday device thingy)
Sunstorm: It's ready! Now, to unleash the true power of the Ultio Mask!
(Atha Prime notices that the device is ready and begins to walk away from his and Optimus' fight)
Atha Prime: Excuse me, but I have a galaxy to conquer.
Optimus Prime: Not on my watch....
(Optimus leaps at the ancient Prime from behind him)
Optimus Prime: Atha! Let us see what's behind that mask!
(The Autobot leader grabs the prongs of Atha's mask)
Atha Prime: No! Let go!
(Optimus tears the mask off. Perhaps this is the beginning of his face "fetish" in the films?)
Atha Prime: NOOO!
(Meanwhile, Destructor is beating the crud out of Superion)
Superion: Oof!
Destructor: Destructor... kill. Destructor... smash! Must find... something to kill! Kill....
(Back at the site of the doomsday thingy)
Sunstorm: Caliburn, get it aimed correctly!
Caliburn: I'm trying!
(Caliburn successfully aims it at the portal) Caliburn: There!
Sunstorm: Charge it up to full power!
(Back with Optimus Prime and Atha's confrontation, Optimus stares in awe at the face behind the mask: Megazarak!)
Megazarak: You imbecile! Did you expect to see my master's true face? My body was used to host my master's spirit. He's not just the wearer of the mask... he is the mask!
(Concurrently with all of these events, Sunstorm prepares to fire the device)
Sunstorm: Fire on my command, on five! One! Two! Three!
(Megazarak sneers at Optimus) Megazarak: It's too late!
Sunstorm: Four!
(Suddenly, Optimus transforms and drives off with the mask)
Megazarak: Where are you going?!
Sunstorm: Five!
(Optimus transforms) Atha Prime/Ultio Mask: Release me!
(Optimus does so and throws the mask into the device's line of fire)
Atha Prime/Ultio Mask: No....
(Some weird things happen and Atha somehow manages to transfer his spirit into Destructor)
Optimus Prime: Oh, no.... [Yeah, nice going there]
Atha Prime/Destructor: You are such a fool, Prime! Now that my spirit's been merged with the Abyss, power is once again mine!
Sunstorm: Well, this is unexpected.
Megzarak (kneeling before his master): Master, I pledge myself to-
Atha Prime: Imbecile.
(The titan fires a blast of energy from his hand, eliminating Megazarak)
Jetfire (communicator): Optimus, what do we do?
Optimus Prime: We give him a taste of his own medicine....
(Soon...)
Sunstorm: Well, this is all lovely. At first, I didn't think it would work. Also, I thought it'd be too much and kill-
(Ironhide appears behind him and blasts his head off)
Prowl: I think we could've just-
Ironhide: Shut up, he's dead now.
Prowl (taking control of the super-weapon): All right, Bumblebee! Do your thing!
(In vehicle mode, Bumblebee begins driving around Atha Prime)
Bumblebee: Hey, bozo! Is that your face? Or did somebody die?
(An enraged Atha begins firing blasts of energy at him)
Bumblebee: Is that all you got? Come on, slowpoke!
Atha Prime: Imbecile!
(The Autobots then fire the weapon at him, though it does no apparent damage)
Atha Prime: You fools! That only makes me stronger!
Jazz: That's cool. Let's crank it up then!
(The blast increases and Atha begins to grow weary)
Atha Prime: What are you doing? Stop it!
(He attempts to fire at the weapon, but instead, his entire arm explodes. Not long after, his body begins to break)
Atha Prime: What is this madness?! Too... much... power!
(And then... KABOOM! With his body destroyed, Atha's spirit begins to drift away from Cybertron)
Atha Prime: I'll... be... back....
Bumblebee: How did that happen, Prime?
Optimus Prime: Simple. Once Atha had absorbed enough power, he would unleash it....
Prowl: And then overcharge and explode. Genius.
Ironhide: What now, Prime?
Optimus Prime: Easy. Transform and roll out!
(Meanwhile, at an unspecified location, a Diagnostic Drone approaches an unseen figure)
Diagnostic Drone: My lord, upgrades are 48% complete. But you will still need three days of stasis to make sure there is no-
???: I don't care.
Diagnostic Drone: But-
???: Now that wannabe is dead, I can kill Prime with no interruption.
Diagnostic Drone: But, my lord-!
(Ignoring the drone, the figure strides out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Elsewhere, in space, a purple portal opens up and five figures step out)
???: Are we ready?
(The five figures are revealed to be Nova Prime, Jhiaxus, and three others)
Jhiaxus: Yes, we are ready to begin.
Nova Prime: Excellent. You know your places....
